    Four general election candidates have spent a few minutes hearing from voters in the Selby and Ainsty constituency.

    A Filey man has been left with a broken thigh bone and a facial injury after he was assaulted at a social club in the town.

    It happened in the early hours of the 28 May at Filey Sports and Social Club. The 50-year-old was taken to Scarborough Hospital.

    A 25-year-old man, also from Filey, was arrested in connection with the incident. He has been released while the police inquiries continue.

    Officers are appealing for witnesses.

    Police in Doncaster have arrested three people as part of a new operation to tackle burglary.

    The campaign launched this week and aims to focus on hotspot areas identified through intelligence work and recent inquiries in the local community.

    This is eastbound just before the little house on the prairie, and there's still one lane shut as emergency services clean up a diesel spill.

    Not great news as we head into the evening rush hour.

    Armed police were called to Sheffield City Centre this afternoon, following a report of a man carrying a gun.

    Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident - one of them was found with a BB gun.

  13. Yorkshire Wildlife Park expansion plans 'game changer'published at 15:01 British Summer Time 7 June 2017

    The Chief Executive of Yorkshire Wildlife Park, John Minion, has called plans for a major expansion of the site a "game changer for Doncaster and the surrounding area."

    The attraction has secured 150 acres of land next to its current location, which they say will create over 300 new jobs and generate around £50m of investment.

    Public consultation events on the plans will take place in the park's conference suite next Friday and Saturday.

    A Doncaster truck mechanic is attempting to drive to Spain in just four days, to raise cash for the Sheffield Hospitals charity.

    Trevor Hill, 51, from Balby has revamped his old banger to resemble a horse and cart, and will travel the 1400 mile trip to Benidorm dressed as Robin Hood.

    Terry - who is being joined by his stepfather Stuart Johnson - hopes to raise thousands of pounds as a thank you to staff at the Palliative Care Unit.

    They looked after his mum, Dian, before she died from cancer last March.

    Twenty-five-years to the day since his death a memorial service is taking place today for a North Yorkshire Police officer murdered by a member of the IRA.

    Glenn Goodman, a 37-year-old special constable was shot dead after stopping a car for a routine check on the A64 near Tadcaster.

    Paul Magee, a member of the IRA, was jailed for life in March 1993 for Mr Goodman's murder.

    Glenn's dad, Brian, says the recent terror attacks brought memories flooding back:

    The private service in Tadcaster will be attended by serving police officers and former colleagues.

    Lewis Berkley, 18, didn't show up for sentencing at York Magistrates Court last week for breaching his licence, after he was released from prison in April.

    He is also wanted on suspicion of breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order and on suspicion of criminal damage, theft and stolen vehicle offences.

    It is believed Berkley is in the Clifton area of York.

    Two of Labour's most prominent Yorkshire candidates , Mary Creagh and Yvette Cooper have been out canvassing in Wakefield this lunchtime.

    Today, of course, is the last day of campaigning before the general election tomorrow.

    Earlier, their leader, Jeremy Corbyn, was in Glasgow where he was emphasising Labour's plan to invest billions on public services.

    He said that it would be paid for by higher taxes on business and the better-off. He added the NHS could not afford "five more years of underfunding, understaffing and privatisation".

    People in the Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough will head to the polls for the third time in as many years for this year's general election.

    Last year Labour's Gill Furniss became an MP in a by-election after her husband, Harry Harpham - who was the MP before her - died of cancer.

    She received 14,087 votes, a majority of 9,590 and a 6% increase in Labour's share of the vote.
