  1. Bradford police seize 59 guns in crackdownpublished at 10:24 British Summer Time 8 June 2017

    Two men in Yorkshire have been arrested as apart of a national crackdown on guns by police.

    In Bradford police stopped a car on Old Road and arrested the 49-year-old driver. Officers then searched a house and business premises in the city and found and seized 59 guns.

    Armed officers were used in the operations, which also included an operation on Meadowhall Road in Sheffield. A 24-year-old man was arrested and two handguns were seized.

    Both men have been released pending further enquiries.

    Ian Toothill from Sheffield is one remarkable chap.

    He's got terminal cancer and only months to live, but that hasn't stopped him climbing Mount Everest to raise money for charity.

    The lifelong Sheffield Wednesday fan also agreed to put a Sheffield United flag on the summit to mark his achievement after a friend said they'd donate £1,000 to the cause if he did!

    BBC Music Day returns next week for 2017 with lots of events happening across Yorkshire to celebrate.

    The main event is next Thursday when the special blue plaques to commemorate musical heritage will be unveiled across England including ones in South Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and West Yorkshire.

    Thames Valley Police are growing concerned for two missing teenagers who could be together and in South Yorkshire.

    15-year-old Laiton Kennedy (pictured left) and Michael Cross, aged 13 (pictured right) were last seen in Reading, Berkshire on Monday evening but could now be in Doncaster or Barnsley as it's believed they have links to both towns.

  8. Watch: 'Needles, spoons, syringes' - fears for Leeds children from drug findspublished at 08:59 British Summer Time 8 June 2017

    More now on the multiple drug-dens found in a park in Leeds, just metres away from where children play.

    Needles and syringes have been spotted in the bushes, which people living in the area think could be dangerous and infectious.

    Antony Newby runs a fitness club in Armley Park, he's angry drug needles have been left lying around.

    There are claims today that roadworks in Sheffield city centre are putting people's lives at risk.

    It's part of a major scheme to improve and develop the city centre.

    This local bus driver says the roadworks are an accident waiting to happen:

    Sheffield Council says a road safety team has carried out a full assessment of the highway surrounding the development site.

    They are appealing to drivers and pedestrians to be patient and follow the signs when driving from the city centre via Charter Row.

    One of the worlds most famous actors has recorded a message for everyone taking part in this weekend's York Pride.

    Sir Ian McKellen, famed for his roles as Gandalf in The Lord of the Ringsand The Hobbit trilogies, has extended his support to York Pride 2017 in a video to the charity in which he calls Pride “terribly important."

    For the first time ever students and teachers from every state secondary school in York will join around 8,000 people at the parade.

    A charity worker from West Yorkshire has secured a place in a national stand up comedy competition.

    So You Think You're Funny? aims to discover new unsigned talent from across the country.

    Past winners of the event have gone on to become famous comedians. They include names such as Lee Mack and Peter Kay.

    The worlds top horse riders are competing at the Bramham International Horse Trials near Wetherby today.

    The famous event combines dressage, cross country and show jumping at Bramham Park.

    The competition has become so popular an extra day of dressage has been added to fit all entrants in.

    Organisers say they're expecting 60,000 people to visit over the four days of the event.

    Some people living near the Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster have expressed concerns over it's expansion plans.

    Yesterday the park revealed plans to build more animal reserves, a 150-bed hotel, shops and restaurants on an additional 150-acres of land.

    There will be be a couple of public consultation events next week and outline planning permission is expected to be submitted later in the summer.

    People across Yorkshire are preparing to cast their vote in the general election.

    Polls open at 07:00 at more than 40,000 polling stations across the country, with counting starting once voting ends at 22:00.

    A total of 650 Westminster MPs will be elected, with about 46.9 million people registered to vote.

    There are 8 Parliamentary constituencies in North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire is divided into 14 Parliamentary constituencies and 22 MPs are being elected in West Yorkshire.

    There'll be extra police patrols with armed officers in some areas.
