    A man's been left with life-threatening injuries after a collision between two cars in Doncaster on Sunday evening.

    The collision, between a Skoke Fabia and a silver Ford Ka, happened at about 19:30 yesterday on the A6182 Great Yorkshire Way.

    An 86-year-old man travelling as a passenger in the Skoda suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains.

    The driver of the Skoda, a 42-year-old man, and the driver of the Ford, a 42-year-old man, both suffered minor injuries.

    Anyone who witnessed the crash is being asked to contact police.

    West Yorkshire Police say claims of an acid attack in Bradford are rumour and that no such incident has occured.

    It comes after two people in London were left with "life-changing" injuries when a corrosive substance was thrown at them through car windows. The incident is now being treated as a hate crime.

    The number of acid attacks in London has risen sharply in the past four years. Since 2010 there have been more than 1,800 reports of attacks involving corrosive fluids in the capital.

    The rumour in Bradford was highlighted by a team of officers who work with primary school children across the district and support vulneranble members of the community.

    A teenage boy is critically ill in hospital following a serious assault at a party in North Yorkshire.

    The 15-year-old was assaulted in Swainby, near Stokesley, on Friday night.

    North Yorkshire Police said two people have been arrested in connection with the incident and released under investigation while enquiries continue.

    Anyone who was at the party at the time, or who saw an altercation between a group of 14 to 15-year-olds, is asked to contact 101.

    A further update on the news that a 16-year-old girl has pleaded guilty to killing seven-year-old York girl Katie Rough.

    The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to manslaughter by diminished responsibility.

    Katie was found with severe lacerations to her neck and chest on a playing field in Woodthorpe, York, on 9 January. She died later in hospital.

    The girl did not speak as she entered her plea via video link at Leeds Crown Court. She denied a separate charge of murder.

    Nicholas Johnson QC, defending, asked the court if the charge of murder could be put to the girl again and she wrote her plea on a piece of paper.

    Her solicitor told the court: "I can confirm she has indicated not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter."

    Graham Reeds QC, prosecuting, said: "We are going to accept that plea of manslaughter by diminished responsibility."

    More on the news that a 16-year-old girl has admitted the manslaughter of seven-year-old York girl Katie Rough.

    The teenager appeared by video link at Leeds Crown Court where she pleaded guilty to manslaughter by diminished responsibility.

    Katie was found seriously injured on a playing field in York in January and died later in hospital.

    A North Yorkshire woman paralysed from the chest down after a horse riding accident wants to raise £100,000 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance and spinal research.

    Tara Stewart was thrown from her horse three years ago while riding near her family home at Stearsby, near Helmsley.

    Calderdale Council's widening the carriageway at Salterhebble Hill, remodelling junctions, upgrading pelican crossings and installing new traffic lights.

    This phase of the upgrade of the A629 won't be complete until next Summer.

    The organiser of Leeds Festival, Melvin Benn, hopes drug testing will start soon at UK festivals but says the Home Office needs to issue a special licence for that to happen.

    Pilots took place at last year's Secret Garden Party and Kendal Calling.

    But festival promoters are waiting for the government's final approval to make sure they aren't breaking the law.

    Melvin Benn says he's hopeful to have a licence in place by the time Leeds and Reading Festival starts in August.

    The scheme has had its critics but Melvin Benn says festivals will be safer if drugs are tested.

    BBC Radio York has been told progress on new multi-million pound flood defences in York needs to be speeded up.

    Tonight officials in the city will get an update on the progress of five year plans to protect it from flooding. The government pledged £45m almost eight months ago. The Environment Agency says building work will start in 2018.

    Liberal Democrat Councillor Andrew Waller says the floods happened in 2015 and people have waited long enough for work to start.

    Third Energy is submitting its plans to the Government for final approval - the last hurdle in the process. Campaigners have failed in their judicial review challenging the decision.
