Doncaster, Bradford and Scarborough have been selected along with nine other towns and cites across the country, to receive help from the chief executive of the Education Endowment Foundation, Sir Kevan Collins

Sir Kevan will be known as an "evidence champion" tasked with gathering information as to what does and does not work in a classroom environment.

    Nick Wilmshurst
    BBC Local Live, Yorkshire

We've all done silly things when we were young, and it's no different for our bovine friends.

This is Daisy the cow (why are they always called Daisy?), she got stuck in some rocks in Holmfirth this morning:

The four-month-old Belgian Blue female calf got into trouble in woodland in a disused quarry after she wandered off from the rest of the herd in a field near Brow Lane.

It's thought she'd been there overnight and was spotted by a dog walker.

The fire service got there and began to remove the rocks, one of which weighed three tonnes, and Daisy was put in a harness and hoisted up.

This kind of rescue is not ‘un-herd’ of but it was particularly challenging because of the tight spot Daisy had got herself into.

Chris Lawton, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue

Daisy was fine and was soon back in her field munching on the grass with her bovine friends.
