Veolia expects to reach a compromise with Sheffield City Council over its waste handling contract in the coming months, the head of the French environmental services company has said.
This follows the council's plans to try to cut costs and even at one point last year threatened to cancel their contract with the company which includes bin collection, recycling, waste recovery and waste incineration which is due to run until 2036.
Waste handling costs in Sheffield are among the lowest in Britain and it's believed that Sheffield City Council want to reduce the cost of the contract significantly to help ease the pressure on its budget.
Quote MessageNegotiations are continuing with Sheffield, I am rather confident we can find an agreement in the next months."
Antoine Frerot, Veolia chief executive

The owner of a fishing boat on which two Northumberland men died has pleaded guilty to two charges over their deaths.
At Leeds Crown Court, Timothy Bowman-Davies, from Pembrokeshire, admitted failing to ensure the boat was safe and that the equipment on board was in good working order.
Mark Arries, 26, from Blyth, and Edward Ide, 21, from Amble, were found dead on the boat, which was moored in Whitby harbour, in January 2014.
They were poisoned by carbon monoxide after lighting the grill of a butane gas cooker fitted in the wheelhouse to warm the sleeping area.
Later reports showed that the men may not have died if the boat been fitted with a carbon monoxide alarm.

New figures have shown there's been a significant fall in the number of dedicated traffic police officers in North Yorkshire over the past 10 years.
A Freedom of Information request reveals there were 94 in 2007, compared to around 60 now.
Former Yorkshire UKIP MEP, Godfrey Bloom is now the lead patron of the Alliance of British Drivers and he said replacing officers with cameras has been a failure:
In response the Home Office say factors such as improvements to technology are important to effective policing and not just the actual numbers of staff.
