    BBC Look North

The annual Bakewell Show looks set to go ahead as planned tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday despite heavy rain over the weekend which led to the final day of the nearby Y Not festival being cancelled by organisers yesterday due to the inclement weather.

I've been in the Derbyshire village all morning and there's plenty of water around!

    Flooding in Bakewell

The event draws thousands of people to the showground from areas including Yorkshire and a decision has been made to put down large amounts of chopped down straw in an attempt to dry up the site before it opens to the public tomorrow morning.

A court hearing a case about tree protests in Sheffield has been told more about the criminal convictions of the company which is carrying out the 25-year highway maintenance programme in the city.

Last week there was a three-day hearing at Leeds High Court.

David Forsdick QC, the barrister for Sheffield City Council, said his clients accepted that contractors Amey had been convicted of a breach of the Health and Safety at Work Act in 2011, and were fined £30,000.

It was in relation to an incident in Liverpool where a worker fell off a cherry picker while doing repairs on street lights.

But Amey denies a claim made by the barrister for the tree campaigners that the firm had been convicted of corporate manslaughter.

In a statement the company said: “Neither Amey or any company in the Amey Group, has ever been convicted of corporate manslaughter.

"The references made to corporate manslaughter in the High Court are not recognised by Amey.”
