    Officers from the Community Alcohol Partnership in Keighley have been out spraying their messages onto pavements and walls today, to remind people about the laws around the sale of booze.

    Don't worry though, they haven't been tagging down your street!

    The special stencils have been used on pavements and in the car parks of local supermarkets.

    More on the news that the Labour MP for Rotherham, Sarah Champion, has resigned from her position as Shadow Secretary of State for Women and Equalities.

    It follows criticism over a newspaper article she wrote about grooming gangs.

    The Rotherham MP wrote in The Sun that "Britain has a problem with British Pakistani men raping and exploiting white girls".

    Ms Champion released the following statement this afternoon:

    I apologise for the offence caused by the extremely poor choice of words in The Sun article on Friday. I am concerned that my continued position in the shadow cabinet would distract from the crucial issues around child protection which I have campaigned on my entire political career. It is therefore with regret that I tender my resignation as Shadow Secretary of State for Women and Equalities."

    In response, the Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said: "I have accepted Sarah Champion's resignation and thank her for her work in the shadow cabinet. I look forward to working together in future."

    A man's body's been found in the river in Brighouse.

    Police were called around 20:45 yesterday evening to River Street in Brighouse where they recovered the body of an elderly male from the water.

    The man has not yet been identified, but the family of Barry Nicholson - who was last seen on Sunday evening - has been informed.

    A new budget hotel has recently opened in Sheffield on the University of Sheffield campus.

    Former halls of residence have been converted into the Jonas Hotel in Broomhill - the idea is that students and visitors can share the same space.

    They also have a fleet of push along scooters on site to be loaned to guests so they can scoot around Sheffield!

    A 17-year-old who was arrested on Tuesday after a police car was rammed in Bradford has been released without charge.

    The police car, a BMW X5, was severely damaged when it was rammed by a reported stolen car from Birmingham.

  16. Cars caught speeding through motorway roadworkspublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 16 August 2017

    West Yorkshire police are taking to twitter to urge drivers to slow down through roadworks on the M1.

    The force says several drivers near junction 45 east of Leeds seem to have been trying their luck, driving through the stretch faster than the 50mph speed limit.

    And officers have been catching speeding drivers in the process.

    Armed with their speed gun, they've been clocking drivers going over the speed limit, posting their results on Twitter., external

    The force says one driver even questioned the recalibration date of the device. Turns out, it's not until next March. The driver was reported for the offence.

    Wanted man Jack Holland, who failed to attend court yesterday, had been arrested.

    The 20-year-old, of Park View, Maltby, was due in court charged with robbery, but failed to turn up.

  18. Family of hanged schoolboy walk out of pre-inquest hearingpublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 16 August 2017

    Relatives of a Bradford schoolboy - who was found hanged in his bedroom - say they'll boycott his inquest.

    Eleven-year-old Asad Khan was found in his bedroom at his family home in September last year.

    His family walked out of a pre-inquest hearing today in protest at the coroner's decisions not to hear what they say is crucial evidence.

    Last month, Asad's father Asif Mehmood said he had "absolutely no faith" in coroner Martin Fleming's actions and called for Mr. Fleming to stand down.

    A new study has found that there were 24 cases in the county last year - the third highest in the UK

    In order to avoid such cat-astrophes: owners are being urged to keep their pet's details on a microchip database and to spread the word quickly if they suspect their cat has been taken.
