A dog who was so badly neglected that he was unable to walk because the fur on his leg was fused to his ear has found a loving new home.
Trooper, as named by his new owners, was found on the streets of Leeds in June after his fur was so matted that it had pulled off the skin around his eyes.
Staff at the Dogs Trust who took him in said that it was the "the worst case of neglect they had seen in over 30 years".
But this story has a happy ending, Trooper is now better, after having to be anaesthetised so the vet could shave off the matted fur all over his body.
The Lhaso Apso is now living with former soldier Allan Bottomley and his wife, Sandy, from Halifax who gave the six-year-old his new home after hearing about his plight.
The Dogs Trust says that Trooper is now enjoying life, gets several walks a day and plays in the garden of his new home.
Quote MessageWhen we heard his story, Sandy had tears rolling down her face and I was so angry."

"I've been at Leeds since I was 15, this is my first loan spell and I'm excited to get going and make that step up to senior league football."

Labour MPs from Yorkshire and Humber have written to Transport Secretary Chris Grayling to complain at what they say is a "scandalous north-south disparity in investment".
It follows an opinion piece by Mr Grayling which appeared in yesterday's Yorkshire Post.
In it he said the north had to take charge of its own transport priorities and that the government was giving 13 billion pounds of funding in this parliament.
But the MPs say the UK has some of the worst regional funding inequalities in Europe, with research suggesting that Yorkshire and Humber gets the equivalent of 190 pounds per person per year - while in London it's over 1,900.
The developers who want to re-open Bradford Odeon as a live music and conference venue say they've teamed up with the council to bid for government culture money.
Grants of up to four million pounds are available from the Northern Cultural Regeration Fund which will be handed out to a number of small projects.
If anyone ever tells you that Yorkshire's coast isn't up to much, show them this.
