    Five Sheffield United fans were questioned by police in South Yorkshire yesterday in connection with a disorder at the Riverside Stadium during and after their match with Middlesbrough on 12 August.

    Yorkshire's reputation as a world-class cycling destination has been further enhanced by becoming the first place in the UK to be officially recognised by cycling's world governing body as a UCI Bike Region.

    Sir Gary Verity (pictured right), from tourism organisation Welcome to Yorkshire, accepted the award on behalf of the White Rose county at a ceremony in Norway, where the UCI Road World Championships are currently taking place.

    The county was one of five cities and regions to receive the accolade this year, along with Fyn in Denmark, Belgium's Heusden-Zolder, plus Gelderland and Woensdrecht which are both in the Netherlands.

    A six-figure investment by Doncaster Sheffield Airport (DSA) will see the Don Valley site known as the FlyDSA Arena for the length of the three-year initial agreement.

    Market bosses were told by officers to evacuate the site after the discovery earlier this morning.

    The market remains behind a police cordon at the moment and several bus services have been affected by road closures in the city centre, though the bus station remains open.

    Remember we told you yesterday about a runaway wooden jetty which had vanished from a riverside garden in Nether Poppleton, near York?

    It appears to have washed up about 10 miles downstream at Cawood:

    It was found after a nice bit of detective work by some of the crew members from the York Rescue Boat.

    The jetty's owners, Jan and Mike Shannon, are delighted to hear it's been found, but say they're "surprised it managed to travel so far".

    They also say they're "amazed" it passed through Naburn Lock on the way.

    South Yorkshire Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in relation to an arson incident in the Hyde Park area of Doncaster.

    It happened at about 13:30 on Thursday 10 August, when someone on the 11th floor of Sandbeck House Flats in Grove Place lit an item before dropping it into the rubbish chute, which then caused the bins to be set alight.

    The complex was evacuated by the emergency services due to smoke which filled the entire building.

    Anyone with information is asked to call 101.

    Virgin Trains East Coast may have the answer: passengers can bid for empty first class seats on a new smartphone app shortly before departure.

    Prices start from £5 for a seat in first class carriages, which feature complimentary food and drink, free wi-fi, reclining leather seats and extra legroom.

    Upgrades are initially available on some weekday services from London King's Cross to Edinburgh, Leeds, Newcastle and York, with more routes expected to be added.

    Each auction starts about two-and-a-half hours in advance and ends 30 minutes before the train departs.

    Here's a bit more about children from Yorkshire who've made it to the final of a national driving competition.

    Motorists aged between 10 and 15 have been taking driving courses on private land and the best have been put forward by their instructors for the final.
