    He's been talking about his party's plans to invest £8bn in social care over the next parliament.

    The Labour leader's visiting a community centre in Shipley and it comes as Labour accuses the government of pressing ahead with it's so-called Dementia Tax.

    BBC Yorkshire's political editor James Vincent described the visit as "very much looks like a campaign trail".

    Although not regarded as a marginal seat, the Shipley constituency is a battleground for Labour with their candidate losing out by about 5,000 votes in the last election.

  2. Work starts on demolishing Headingley's Main Standpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 12 October 2017

    Work has started today on demolishing the Main Stand at Headingley stadium.

    Work on a new £35m stand is hoped to be completed by spring 2019.

  3. Listen: Campaign increased to aid security men jailed in Indiapublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 12 October 2017

    Relatives of six maritime security guards imprisoned in India are marking the fourth anniversary of their arrest by stepping up the campaign to free them.

    They'll hand in a petition to Downing Street later with more than 400,000 signatures.

    The six men were arrested in October 2013 on illegal weapons charges. They were convicted and jailed for five years in 2016.

    Two Yorkshire men are among those being held: Paul Towers is from Pocklington near York and Nicholas Simpson is from Catterick in North Yorkshire.

    Here's a view very few of us will get to see, the view of the former Majestyk nightclub in Leeds - still with no roof three years after it was destroyed by a fire.

    We spotted it on Twitter taken by eagle-eyed Andrew Byrom.

    The Majestic building, in City Square, was badly damaged by a blaze in September 2014 with the roof almost completely destroyed.

    We contacted the people who own it, Rushbond, who have had plans to turn it into offices approved and we should "watch this space" for the next phase in the building's future.

    Police have released this CCTV image which appears to show a man causing criminal damage to vehicles on Pym Road, Mexborough:

    A paint stripping substance damaged both a white Renault Clio and a silver Vauxhall Insignia.

    It happened on Sunday 24 September about 04:15.

    Police say the image isn't clear, but hope somebody may recognise his clothing.

    Some good news this lunchtime, 17-year-old Chloe Parrish who was missing from Leeds has been found safe and well.

    Police said they thanks "members of the public for their assistance in this matter."

  8. Bridge set to reopen after 2015 floodspublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 12 October 2017

    Work to replace a bridge destroyed by flooding in a West Yorkshire village has finally finished.

    The 185-year-old bridge in Copley was destroyed in the Boxing Day floods in 2015 and had to be completely demolished before it was rebuilt.

    The replacement opens today - it's been named after the late Graham Wilson who lived in the toll house there for many years.

    People living in the area will be able to go to a special ceremony this lunchtime to celebrate its reopening.

    Leeds Art Gallery has been in mothballs since January last year, and earlier we told you that it will open its doors tomorrow.

    The building needed essential repairs to the roof, exposing a glass room which had been covered up for 40 years.

  10. Dialysis patients could soon be exercising while getting treatmentpublished at 12:02 British Summer Time 12 October 2017

    Sheffield Hospital Charity is hoping to raise £25,000 to buy two static dialysis bikes for patients at the Nothern General Hospital's Sheffield Kidney Institute.

    The bikes will allow patients to improve their fitness levels whilst undergoing the lifesaving treatment.

    A handful of dialysis bikes are being trialled around the UK.

    Thye've been found to be successful in improving mobility, health and well-being in patients with kidney disease who are on dialysis.

    The aim is for the scheme to become an integral part of treatment plan for patients.

  12. Doncaster murder remains a mystery 12 years onpublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 12 October 2017

    Today marks the 12 year since Nora Tait, 69, was bludgeoned to death at her home in Hexthorpe.

    The Doncaster grandmother was last seen buying fish and chips from a nearby takeaway on 12 October 2005.

    The following day a close friend found her body at her home on Stone Close Avenue.

    Her fish and chips were left untouched on the dining room table.

    A black leather purse containing cash is the only item thought to have been taken.

    Neither the purse or a weapon have been recovered.

    Police say they are continuing to search for answers.

    Two men were injured in a shooting in Leeds last night.

    Armed officers were called in after a shotgun was fired twice at a car in a targeted attack.

    It happened at about 23:15 on Maud Avenue, Beeston, when three men were sitting in a Toyota Yaris.

    A black BMW, which had a number of men wearing balaclavas in it, pulled up and shot at the other car, leaving a 21-year-old man with a shotgun pellet wound in his hand.

    A 19-year-old man was left with minor injuries from flying glass - both men were taken to hospital and later released.

    Armed officers were called in and found the BMW abandoned in Barkly Avenue, where officers are still at the scene investigating.

    Actor Nigel Havers has joined the debate about 'idling motorists' in Sheffield.

    He spoke to BBC Radio Sheffield during the breakfast phone in this morning.

    Police are holding traffic on the M621 at J2 in both directions as they deal with an incident.

    Traffic is already backing up to the inner ring road heading out of the city centre, and traffic heading in is also at a standstill.

    A New York-style city park could be coming to Leeds.

    It could look like a mini version of New York's Central Park and would be on the site of the former Tetley Brewery.

    The plan stretches from the River Aire into Holbeck and would cover up to five acres in size, with The Tetley art gallery at its heart.

    Around 850 new homes, as well as shops and businesses are also earmarked for the South Bank development.

    Bryony Bond is creative director at the Tetley Gallery. She says the space will be like a "green lung" for the area:

    Chloe Parrish, 17, was thought to be in the Middleton area of the city yesterday afternoon.

    Police say they think she was wearing a grey Adidas sweatshirt, black trousers and carrying a large cream handbag.

    She is known to have links to the Middleton, Kippax and north east Leeds areas.

    The city's first pop culture cafe, Random Encounter, has opened.
