    A Rotherham schoolboy has scooped a fully-funded place in the 2018 Ginetta Junior Championship.

    James Taylor, 15, from Wath-Upon-Dearne, beat off 65 other young drivers to receive professional driver training.

    Keighley boxer, Muhammad Ali, is facing a lengthy ban after testing positive for a banned steroid in April.

    Ali, who competed in last summer's Rio Olympics, has been provisionally suspended until the outcome of the process.

    A date for his hearing has yet to be set.

    It's the first time a member of the Great Britain boxing team has tested positive for a banned substance.

    Protesters at North Yorkshire's fracking site have criticised "heavy-handed" police behaviour after a video emerged of a campaigner being pulled to the ground.

    Roy Openshaw says he wasn't doing anything illegal and it was his first-ever protest when he was pulled to the floor by a North Yorkshire officer.

    Other protesters say they feel the police are over-manning the demonstrations, rules about what they can do are unclear and that officers aren't allowing them to demonstrate in an appropriate way.

    North Yorkshire Police say they're committed to balancing the wants, wishes and needs of everyone at the site including those who want to protest peacefully.

    Airedale NHS Trust has approved plans to set-up a private company to run some services at Keighley's hospital.

    The trust says it will enable things like building and purchasing services work more efficiently.

    But union Unison says the decision is treating the public "with contempt" and is demanding that the Trust Board hold a full public consultation.

    In a statement, the trust said it had "consulted fully" with staff and unions and "held a series of open forum meetings for staff and their representatives to ask questions and feed back their views".

    A man who climbed onto a lorry at the fracking site on Kirby Misperton Road yesterday has been charged.

    The 28-year-old has been charged with hindering the use of equipment and will appear in court in December.

    Police say there have now been 56 arrests in connection with protest activity at Kirby Misperton since the start of September. 42 have been charged to appear in court.

    A charity in Leeds which gives away items for babies in need of clothing and things like cots says they've been "inundated" with requests.

    The Leeds Baby Bank, external say that over the last few weeks they've has so many requests for help for vulnerable families they've not been able to help because they're "extremely low on supplies".

    The charity says that they currently have 14 babies waiting for a cot, 11 families waiting for a pram and are also in "desperate need" of safety gates and bedding and blankets.

    They say that they'd be grateful for any donations from families who can donate items.

    The BBC's has found that Kirklees is now a 'priority area' for the Government's anti-terror strategy.

    The government's Prevent scheme is holding three day workshops there to try to stop young people from being radicalised. It's aimed at front line workers like teachers, youth workers and community leaders.

    It was set up to stop people being drawn into terrorist activities, but The Muslim Council of Britain has said young Muslims were being targeted, and a former senior Muslim policeman, Dal Babu, said Prevent had become a "toxic brand" because it was not trusted by communities.

    Abdul Ahad experienced radicalisation and says Prevent can change people's lives simply by encouraging tolerance, he told us about and one particular case:

  13. Man to tackle cycling challenge after comapublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 26 October 2017

    A York man has vowed to get back on his bike despite being seriously injured when riding through a forest.

    Ivan Astbury from Bishopthorpe was put into an induced coma after falling off his bike in August.

    The 55-year-old was riding with his son, Matthew, who had gone on ahead. Ivan's son went back to look for him when he didn't appear further down the trail and found him lying on the ground.

    There were no witnesses and the cause of the crash remains a mystery.

    Despite numerous injuries, including a bleed on the brain, Ivan plans to return to the same area to tackle the off-road Hamsterley Beast in May next year.

    Yesterday we warned you that there was a rise in reports of items being stolen from vehicles in Rotherham.

    Now it appears that car thieves are sweeping through other parts of South Yorkshire as officers in Sheffield received a dozen reports over the past two days.

    Police say reported sightings of a man missing from South Milford for two weeks have not moved the case forward.

    Richard Taylor, 30, was last seen on 12 October when he left home to get a tyre repaired in Knottingley.

    His pick-up truck was found abandoned near Selby Golf Club two days later and police say despite numerous sightings they have still failed to find him and he has not been in contact with family or friends.

    A teenage campaigner from York has won a top award for promoting human rights in York.

    Fourteen-year-old Cecile Lansford from Acomb works with York Human Rights City Network, which focuses on how people's rights are considered in all of York's laws and policies.

    She was praised for organising events at her school and York Library, as well as speaking at the 2017 Equality and Human Rights Commission Wales Office.

    Cecile attended a ceremony in London this week to receive the Liberty Human Rights Award in the Young Person of the Year category.
