  1. In pictures: North Yorkshire sky-watcher catches Venus and Jupiter conjunctionpublished at 09:37 Greenwich Mean Time 13 November 2017

Two of the brightest planets in our solar system appeared in the sky just before dawn this morning and, for a brief moment, it appeared as if Jupiter and Venus were orbiting the sun side by side.

    Jupiter

The astronomical phenomenon, known as the Venus Jupiter conjunction, was captured in the sky over North Yorkshire by BBC Weather Watcher Nicholas Beaven.

If you missed it, it's too late now as the light from the sun is obscuring the view.

But if you managed to catch a glance and maybe even snap a pic, you can send it in by simply clicking here.

Dozens of restaurants and takeaways across Sheffield have been donating a percentage of their takings to aid Rohingya Muslims escaping violence in the Buddhist state of Myanmar.

The businesses collectively raised more than £40,000 for the cause.

The cash will go towards aiding the tens of thousands of Rohingya Muslims who have crossed the border to seek refuge in the neighbouring state of Bangladesh following recent violence.

The violence in Rakhine erupted on 25 August when Rohingya militants attacked security posts in Myanmar's Rakhine state, triggering a military crackdown.

Scores of people have been killed in the crackdown and there are widespread allegations of villages being burned and Rohingya being driven out.

Myanmar's military says it is fighting Rohingya militants and denies targeting civilians.

Delivery driver Michael Pritchard, 54, was dragged down the road to his death in Kirk Langley, Derbyshire, when he tried to stop thieves taking his van.

At the time, police made arrests in West Yorkshire in connection with Mr Pritchard's death and they now say someone in Bradford might still have vital information about the crime.

Det Insp Toby Fawcett-Greaves says: "We have previously followed lines of enquiry in the Bradford area which we are re-visiting.

"We believe there may be people in the Bradford area who hold information in relation to this investigation and I would urge them to contact us," he adds.

  6. Leeds stress epidemic blamed on 'always on' culturepublished at 08:23 Greenwich Mean Time 13 November 2017

Pressure at work and worries about health and money are to blame, the survey by Axa Insurance suggests.

The survey found workplace stress was linked to the "always on" culture, with many people thinking about work at the weekend and continuing to take work calls and to check work emails.

Cardiff tops the list of stressed out cities, with the most chilled out place to live being Brighton.

  7. Police 'more than happy' to discuss dumped cannabis with ownerspublished at 08:14 Greenwich Mean Time 13 November 2017

Police say they'd love the people responsible for dumping seven bin bags full of cannabis plants at the side of a road in North Yorkshire to come forward to claim their property.

The plants were found by council officers on the A59 in Blubberhouses, near Harrogate, early on Sunday morning.

PC Amanda Hanusch-Moore tweeted, external: "If it's yours come and speak to us at Harrogate Police station, we're more than happy to discuss!"

Anyone with information is being urged to contact North Yorkshire Police.

  8. Firearms and ammunition amnesty gets under way in Yorkshirepublished at 07:51 Greenwich Mean Time 13 November 2017

People in Yorkshire with illegally-held guns are being urged to hand them in as part of a two-week UK-wide firearms amnesty.

Senior officers hope the initiative, which starts today, will emulate the success of a similar campaign across England and Wales in 2014 which saw more than 6,000 weapons handed in.

Helen McMillan, from the National Police Chiefs' Council, says it's aimed at the "full spectrum" of society.

"You don't have to give your name or address, we just want more guns out of harm's way. Each firearm we retrieve has the potential to save a life so do the right thing and surrender your weapon," Ms McMillan says.

The surrender, involving designated police stations, also applies to ammunition and runs until 26 November.

Figures issued last month by the Office for National Statistics showed that crime involving firearms in England and Wales increased by 27% in the year to June 2017.

  9. Listen: Increase in sex assault victims seeking help in South Yorkshirepublished at 07:37 Greenwich Mean Time 13 November 2017

The number of people seeking help after a rape or sexual assault has gone up by a fifth since South Yorkshire's first dedicated centre opened a year and a half ago, new figures show.

More than 650 people have been to the Sexual Assault Referral Centre at Hackenthorpe Lodge since it opened in April 2016.

However, centre manager Keeley Roe says she doesn't believe it's because more attacks are taking place:
