Mr Robinson was arrested while holidaying in Didum in July, after being accused of joining the Kurdish militia group the YPG, which is fighting so-called Islamic State (IS) in Syria.
Prosecutors presented Facebook photos from his account of him in combat uniform and holiding a weapon.
He claims he was there to offer medical help only.
His father, Andrew Robinson, told the BBC “I’m just very relieved, the past four months have been extremely worrying.
"It’s a very positive step, we’re now just waiting to hear what the next stage of the process will be.”
The trial has been adjourned to March next year and Mr Robinson will be banned from leaving the country.

A court's heard how a young boy was savaged by a dog at a house in Halifax.
The youngster's ear had to be sown back on after he was mauled by the American bull terrier, when he went to play Xbox at the address in Westbury Place.
The dog was usually muzzled, but its owner, 47-year-old Stephen Plunkett of Westbury Place admitted a "lapse of judgement" which allowed it to attack the boy.
Plunkett was given a suspended prison sentence at Bradford Crown Court and a community service order after pleading guilty to having a dog which caused injury while dangerously out of control.
The dog was ordered to be destroyed.

Earlier we told you about Barnsley Council's plan to change the way they operate assisted bin collections.
At the moment, those who turn 80-years-old receive an automatic right to get help putting their bins out for free, but future plans mean they will have to prove they need the support or they will face being charged £10 a year.
Barnsley Council has responded by posting a video on their Facebook page:
The sale of historical items owned by North Yorkshire Police has been postponed due to complaints from retired officers.
The medals, crests, trophies and other artefacts all came from the force's old headquarters in Newby Wiske.
The force said it always intended to keep some items, but would review the sale of the rest.
