    There's anger in Barnsley over a council plan to charge people who need help putting their bins out.

    Until now, those who are aged 80 and above have been able to ask that bin lorry staff collect bins from their home free of charge.

    But in future they'll have to prove they need help getting the bin to the street or they will be charged £10 a year.

    We're still waiting for a response from Barnsley Council, but here's what residents had to say:

    Police are looking for this man after a stabbing in Leeds.

    The vicitm was stabbed while waiting for a bus on Compton Road, Harehills on Saturday evening.

    The attacker is black, aged in his late 20s or early 30s, with short shaved black hair and a bushy short beard.

    He's thought to be between 5’8” and 5’10” tall and was wearing blue jeans and a black Adidas hooded top with a large white Adidas logo in the centre of the chest.

    A man has been arrested after reports he had been approaching children in an area of South Yorkshire.

    The 38-year-old man had been acting suspiciously and driving around in the Maltby area of Rotherham on Thursday evening.

    He is currently in police custody

    A woman from North Yorkshire who was raped a decade ago has been talking about how meeting her attacker ten years later has helped her.

    She's been taking part in "Restorative Justice."

    That's when the victims of crime can meet the offender in controlled circumstances.

    The scheme's been in action in North Yorkshire since 2015.

    During that time more than 130 meetings between victims and criminals have taken place.

    A former soldier from Leeds will appear in court in Turkey today charged with "membership of a terrorist organisation".

    Joe Robinson, 24, was with fiancée, Mira Rojkan and her mother when they were arrested in Didim in July.

    The women were released, but Mr Robinson remains in jail.

    He is accused of joining the Kurdish militia group the YPG, which is fighting so-called Islamic State (IS) in Syria.

    South Yorkshire's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) has refused to pay the legal costs of David Duckenfield who faces charges over the Hillsborough disaster.

    Former Ch Supt Duckenfield, who was the police match commander on the day, is facing charges of manslaughter by gross negligence of 95 people.

    PCC Dr Alan Billings said it was not appropriate to fund the request.

    Mr Duckenfield's lawyer said his client had "no comment to make".

    A decision notice published on Dr Billings' website, external states an application was made on behalf of a retired officer to meet the "legal costs of the officer's opposition to a Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) application to lift a stay of prosecution".

    Long-serving police officers in West Yorkshire are being asked if they would take redundancy.

    The West Yorkshire force is starting a "Voluntary Exit Scheme" to see if it can shed higher-paid long-servers.

    These would be replaced with new officers at the start of the pay scale.

    But Gary Bull from the union Unison says it will only offer a short-term saving and further trawls for redundancy could come in the future:

  10. Vandals put cables on railway linespublished at 07:11 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2017

    South Yorkshire Police are searching for vandals who placed railway cable across tracks causing damage to two passenger trains and widespread disruption to services.

    The incident happened last Sunday in Ecclesfield.

    Both train undercarriages were badly damaged, leaving them disabled on the tracks and causing "widespread disruption" to services to and from Meadowhall.

    A window of one of the trains was also smashed during the incident.

    Northern Rail has offered a reward of £500 for any information that leads to a conviction.

    Flood warnings remain in place across parts of northern England following recent heavy rainfall.

    In North Yorkshire there's a flood warning in place for the River Swale at Kirby Wiske.

    There are also warnings on the River Ouse at Naburn Lock and in York.

    A number of flood alerts have also been issued for the River Swale and River Ure in parts of the Yorkshire Dales.

    A flood warning means flooding is imminent or occurring. A flood alert means flooding is possible.
