    Police investigating a shop robbery in Wibsey have issued an image of a man they would like to speak to.

    Officers say two males, one carrying a metal pole, entered a convenience store on Holroyd Hill in Bradford and made demands for cash and cigarettes at about 19:00 on Tuesday 19 December.

    They took £100 in cash before making their escape on foot.

    A white Volkswagen Golf was seen driving erratically in the area moments afterwards.

    Detectives believe the vehicle could be linked to this investigation.

    A new scheme to cheer up patients spending Christmas in a North Yorkshire hospital is being hailed as a success.

    Three special visitors have been allowed on the wards to cheer up people who are feeling a little - wait for it - ruff!

    Rebus, Betty and Otis (pictured above) are therapy dogs.

    They've been provided by a charity called Pat, to cheer people up at York hospital.

    The three canines stay on their lead at all times and are petted by inpatients and outpatients.

    The hospital say the pooches are especially good at lifting the spirits of people with dementia.

    Doctors also believe spending time with a dog or cat increases levels of wellbeing hormones and helps combat feelings of loneliness.

  3. Iron bar and knife used in Doncaster armed robberypublished at 12:10 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2017

    A knife and iron bar were used in an armed robbery at a bookmaker's in the Armthorpe area of Doncaster.

    It happened shortly before 20:00 on Thursday at the Mark Jarvis bookies in Church Street, just as the shop was closing.

    The man threatened staff inside the shop, making demands for cash.

    Police say he left the shop with cash, heading towards Beech Road, and dropped the iron bar outside the shop.

    Officers say he's black, about 6ft tall, of slim build and was wearing dark trousers, a dark sports top and had a navy blue scarf covering his face.

    Police also want to speak to a white woman, in her late 30s, about 5ft 5ins tall, of slim build with curly hair in a bun, who they believe was also involved.

    Anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area is asked to contact police.

    A Halifax family say their Christmas Day meal was very nearly ruined after a turkey they bought from Tesco smelled so bad they had to put it outside.

    Lee Ashforth says he had to dash about on a last-minute mission to replace the foul smelling bird.

    Tesco said it had sold hundreds of thousands of turkeys and had received a small number of complaints.

    Police say they've found a man in his 20s who was reported missing from his home in York on Christmas Eve.

    Officers had urged the public to help them locate Ross Donaldson after they were concerned for his welfare.

    The 26-year-old, is reported to have been found "safe and well."

    A masked robber brandishing a meat cleaver robbed a supermarket in South Yorkshire.

    The attacker, who was accompanied by another man with his face covered, threatened staff at the McColl's store on Oaks Lane in Rotherham.

    The pair made off with cash after the attack, which happened at 21:20 on Tuesday 19 December

    A police spokesman said: "At this time there is no further information about the descriptions of the men and officers want to hear from anyone who saw, or heard anything suspicious in the area, at around that time."

    A JustGiving page has been set up to raise funds for the families affected by a fatal car crash in Sheffield on Christmas Day.

    The collision killed a police officer and a 61-year-old woman.

    Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident which happened at 08.15.

    A marked BMW 3 series police car was responding to an incident and travelling towards Coisley Hill, when it was involved in a crash with a silver Citroen C3 on the A57 between Coisley Hill and Moss Way (pictured).

    The 46-year-old officer driving the police car, was pronounced dead shortly after the crash.

    The 61-year old female passenger of the Citroen died in hospital.

    The driver of the Citroen, a 63-year-old man, was taken to hospital where he currently remains in a serious condition.

    One of York's most popular visitor attractions has been closed over fears of plummeting temperatures.

    The City of York Council have decided to lock the gates to the walls today, as temperatures begin to drop and put festive walkers at risk of slipping on ice.

    A 20-year-old man has died after a car crash in Bradford.

    The collision happened just after midnight on Whetley Lane, near to the junction with Fairbank Road in Manningham.

    A grey Peugeot 107 was travelling along Fairbank Road towards the junction with Whetley Lane.

    Another vehicle, a grey Vauxhall Astra was travelling along Whetley Lane in the direction of Toller Lane.

    The two vehicles collided close to the junction and then collided with two parked cars at the side of the road.

    The 20-year-old was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary, but sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead.

    A 26-year-old man has died following a car crash in West Yorkshire.

    He was driving a Peugeot 206 which collided with a Ford Kuga on Wakefield Road in Ackworth near to Nostell Priory.

    The crash happened at 11:23 on Saturday 23 December.

    The 26-year-old died at the scene. His family have been informed.

    The driver of the Ford, a 59-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries.

    Det Con Deborah Farley is appealing for people with information to get in touch.

    She said: “This incident has taken place on one of the main routes in to Wakefield and I would appeal to anyone who has been in the area and seen either vehicle prior to the incident, or witnessed the collision itself to come forward with any information.”

    A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man's body was discovered in South Yorkshire.

    The man's body was found at a flat in Low Road in Balby, Doncaster at about 12:20 GMT on 26 December.

    Ambulance staff contacted police about the find and the death is being treated as suspicious, said South Yorkshire Police.

    A 33-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
