    Police in Bradford are trying to trace a man after an attempted robbery on a teenager last month.

    They have now released an e-fit picture of him.

    They want to speak to him after the 14-year-old boy walked passed a group of men on 23 Februrary near St Joseph’s College on Cunliffe Road near Lister Park.

    It was about 15:35 in the afternoon and the men shouted at him, one of them then chased him and pushed him over a wall and grabbed at his pockets.

    The boy pushed him off and managed to run away.

    Thirsk Cricket Club has paid tribute to one of its teenage players who was killed in a car crash on Wednesday.

    George Turner, and his friend Mason Pearson, died after the crash on the A61 in North Yorkshire.

    Police are asking for help to find a missing Sheffield teenager.

    14-year-old Brooke Darby was last seen at around 18:00 yesterday on Page Hall Road.

    Anyone with information about where she is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101.

  6. Verdict due on plans to close Huddersfield's A&Epublished at 13:41 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2018

    An independent panel, which advises the Department of Health, will today submit its verdict on whether to close Huddersfield's A&E.

    If it shuts - it means people would have to travel to Halifax for emergency treatment.

    The trust wants all emergency acute and high-risk planned care to be transferred to Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax and to close and replace the 400-bed HRI.

    The panel will advise the Health Secretary who will make the final decision.

    The driver of the car carrying two teenagers who were killed in a car crash has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

    The incident involved three cars on the A61 between Busby Stoop and Carlton Miniott at 21:25 on Wednesday.

    Two 17-year-old boys were pronounced dead at the scene. Seven others, including two children, were taken to hospital.

    Another two passengers in the same vehicle, an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy, are in critical condition in hospital.

    The 22-year-old who was arrested has been released on bail.

    There is very heavy traffic on the A1(M) near Doncaster.

    Emergency services are dealing with a four vehicle collision between junction 35 at the M18 and junction 36 at Warmsworth.

    It's not currently known when the lanes will be cleared.

  9. Hull MPs demand rethink of Transpennine timetable changespublished at 13:23 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2018

    Two of Hull's MPs are to meet with members of the Chamber of Commerce, over plans to increase journey times on the Hull to Manchester train service.

    Transpeninne Express wants to add an extra four stops onto the Hull to Manchester route from May.

    The train company says it would only add a few minutes extra onto journey times and enhance the service, but the MP's say it's effectively a downgrading of services for Hull passengers.

    The MPs Diana Johnson and Emma Hardy are calling for the company to rethink the plans.

    Tributes have been left for the two 17-year-old boys killed in a car crash near Thirsk.

    Officers were called to reports of a collision involving a Ford Focus, Vauxhall Corsa and a Volkswagen Bora at 21:25 on Wednesday.

    The two boys were pronounced dead at the scene.

    Leeds and Middlesbrough football scarves have also been placed among the flowers.

    A pile of fly-tipped waste is on display today on Parliament Street in York.

    Members of the City of York Council's street cleaning team spent an hour picking up rubbish from alleys in the city centre for the display.

    It's part of the "Crime Not to Care" campaign launched by Keep Britain Tidy to tackle unlicensed waste carriers. The City of York Council say they are responsible for the growth in fly-tipping.

    They're warning people that if they don't take responsibility for their waste and dispose of it safely and legally they will face a fine.

    The power cut to more than 100 properties in Tadcaster is due to a fault on the underground cable network.

    Fire crews were called out to reports of smoke coming from an electricity cover on Chapel Street.

    A police car has been rammed by suspected thieves driving a car in Sheffield.

    It happened as officers were tackling a break in at the Co-op on Baslow Road in Totley.

    The vehicle was stopped by police and those in the car were arrested.

    The number of people arrested has not been disclosed.

    A man in Scarborough has been arrested after police found these cannabis plants:

    Police found about 20 plants at a house on Southlands Grove in Newby yesterday and they found a man in an upstairs room with a watering can and a hose pipe.

    The 28-year-old man, from Scarborough, was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.

    He has been released under investigation as enquiries continue.

    An annual report on Sheffield has been published.

    Put together by a range of academics, voluntary sector workers and health professionals, the report looks at how Sheffield is changing and how it compares to other places.

    It says the city performs well when it comes to economic resilience and that youth unemployment is going down.

    But it says people's life expectancy and quality of life are far higher in the wealthier south west of the city than in eastern areas.
