Neville Hord's attack on a 30-year-old supermarket worker in North Yorkshire was "a premeditated and frenzied attack", according to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
The 40-year-old man stabbed Jodie Willsher to death while she was working at an Aldi supermarket in Skipton in December last year.
Hord, of Great Horton Road in Bradford, had been in a relationship with Mrs Willsher's mother, Nicole Dinsdale.
The CPS says that when the relationship broke down he blamed it on her daughter.

Neville Hord has been sentenced to at least 30 years imprisonment.
It cost £30,772 to police the anti-fracking protests in Kirby Misperton in Feburary 2018.
That's down 36% compared with January 2018.
The figure is for the additional costs of policing the site in Ryedale, including overtime, mutual aid, equipment, subsistence, and travel-related costs.

Naveeda Ikram was accused of championing a business to district councils while failing to declare a financial interest in the company.
The case was thrown out during a trial at Leeds Crown Court due to insufficient evidence, but prosecutors lodged an appeal.
At the Court of Appeal, the judgement was upheld and Mrs Ikram was cleared.

"Rotten to the core" killer Neville Hord who stabbed supermarket worker Jodie Willsher to death in an Aldi store in Skipton, has "devastated a family" say North Yorkshire Police.
Jodie was working in the Aldi store on Keighley Road at 15:27 on Thursday, 21 December when she was stabbed to death.
Jodie Willsher had a daughter and a husband.
They do not want to comment , but Mark Pearson from Cleveland and North Yorkshire Major Investigation Team says Neville Hord has left "a mother without a daughter, a husband without a wife and a young girl without her mother."
Shoppers and members of staff detained Hord before the police arrived, but Jodie died at the scene after being repeatedly stabbed.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of Jarvin Blake.
The man, from the Southey Green area of the city, is the third person to be arrested in connection with the incident.
He remains in police custody waiting to be questioned by detectives.
Two other men, aged 24 and 25-years-old, who were arrested earlier this week on suspicion of murder and other offences have been bailed pending further police enquiries.

Today Neville Hord, 44, pleaded guilty to murdering Jodie Willsher, 30, at the store in Skipton, North Yorkshire, on 21 December.
Prosecutor Peter Moulson QC told the court Hord had told police: "Jodie made things very difficult in my and her mother's relationship." and that he had admitted putting a tracking device on Ms Willsher's car.
He said Hord had been planning the killing for two weeks, buying a pistol crossbow as an "option weapon".
The prosecutor said Hord admitted he went to the store to kill Jodie and told officers he thought she had smiled at him as they made eye contact in the supermarket before he stabbed her.
He said the defendant admitted taking an axe into the store as "back up, just in case".
Police say they're trying to find a driver who was overtaken by a car which was then involved in a fatal accident in Bradford.
Jane Floweth, who was 68 and from Ilkley, was a passenger in a blue Honda Jazz which was involved in a crash with a silver Vauxhall Astra.
It happened on Common Road, near the Guide Post Hotel in Low Moor on 24 February. Ms Floweth was taken to hospital by died later.
West Yorkshire Police say the Astra over took a Ford which was travelling along the A641 Huddersfield Road and then was involved in the crash.
A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains on bail pending further enquiries.

The prosecutor said the attack was witnessed by many people, including a child as well as caught on CCTV, he added the attack was pre-planned and the defendant also took an axe with him to the supermarket.
