    Two men have been been arrested by Counter Terrorism Police in Dewsbury.

    The men aged 51 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.

    Two residential addresses in Savile Town are being searched in connection with the on-going investigation.

    Faye Johnson, who has stuck by her older brother, said the shamed soccer star would be free to celebrate her son Lucas' birthday with her next year.

    The Former England international was jailed for six years in March 2016 for sexually abusing a teenage fan he groomed online.

    Police are searching for a man after a woman was shot in the face through a window in an alleged murder attempt.

    Daniel Simpson, 25, is wanted in connection with the shooting, which happened in Buttermere Avenue, Morecambe, on 2 December.

    Lancashire Police believe a shotgun was used in the attack, which left the 29-year-old woman seriously injured.

  6. Travel: Flooding causing problems on some train servicespublished at 10:08 British Summer Time 3 April 2018

    Northern says services there are problems on the line from Manchester Victoria to Huddersfield and Leeds.

    The operator says all lines have now reopened following flooding on the railway between Mirfield and Leeds.

    Trains between Huddersfield and Leeds may still be cancelled or delayed by up to 15 minutes. Disruption is expected to continue until 11:30.

    TransPennine Express has issues on routes between Liverpool Lime Street and Newcastle and Scarborough, and on services from Manchester International Airport to York and Middlesborough.

    There are also problems between Manchester Piccadilly and Hull.

    TransPennine Express are running replacement buses for customers at Dewsbury station.

    They're reminding passengers that journey times will be longer than by rail.

    A series of events will be held across Yorkshire today to tackle Islamaphobia.

    It comes after flyers were sent to homes across the country calling for 'Punish a Muslim' day and encouraging people to harm followers of Islam.

    Competitors took part in a race at the annual World Coal Carrying Championships in the village of Gawthorpe, near Wakefield yesterday.

    The World Coal Carrying Championships, which began in 1963, takes place on Easter Monday and challenges participants to race with a sack of coal for just over one kilometre to secure the best time.

    The event features men's and women's races with men carrying 50kg of coal and women 20kg in weight.

    To finish the sack of coal must be dropped on the village green where the traditional Maypole is situated in the heart of Gawthorpe.

    Northern Gas Networks says over two thirds of households in Silsden near Keighley have now had their supply reconnected after a contractor damaged the gas main on Friday.

    Almost 4,000 properties were disrupted over the Easter weekend.

    Paul Sadler is the operations manager and says he's confident every property will have a gas supply by the end of today.

    A6025 Elland Road, Brighouse - slow traffic and partially blocked due to flooding on A6025 Elland Road at Brookfoot Lane. Also affecting Brookfoot Lane at A6025 Elland Road.

    Cattal Moor Lane, Cattal - hazardous driving conditions due to flooding on Cattal Moor Lane near Ox Moor Lane. Approach with care.

    A57 Sheffield Parkway - A57 Sheffield Parkway into town exit slip road closed due to flooding at Manor Lane.

    Fordstead Lane, Arksey - Fordstead Lane in both directions closed due to flooding between Almholme Lane / Station Road and Fordstead Lane.

    Dearne Road, Bolton Upon Dearne - Dearne Road is closed in both directions closed due to flooding between Station Road and Mill View.

    Leeds triathlete Alistair Brownlee will carry the cross of St George flag at the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony.

    Two-time Olympic champion Brownlee, 29, will lead the 390-strong England team at Wednesday's ceremony at the Carrara Stadium on Australia's Gold Coast.

    Brownlee won the triathlon in Glasgow four years ago and will defend his title the day after carrying his country's flag.

    "It is a massive honour," he said.

    "I can't imagine what it will feel like walking into the stadium with the cross of St George, alongside all the other Commonwealth nations.

    It is certainly going to be up there as one of the moments in my career that I will always remember."

    Two special centres to speed up cancer diagnosis are being set up in West Yorkshire.

    The idea is to help catch cancer early in people who don't have obvious symptoms.

    Ten of these centres are being opened at hospitals across England as part of an NHS pilot project.

    The hospitals include St James's in Leeds and Airedale General in Keighley.

    New searches are to be carried out for a woman who disappeared "without a trace" from her home a year ago.

    Svitlana Krasnoselska, originally from Ukraine, was last seen in Micklefield, Leeds, at 05:00 BST on 3 April 2017.

    Ms Krasnoselska, who was 40 at the time she went missing, had lived in the UK for 12 years and has a daughter.

    West Yorkshire Police said additional search areas around Micklefield had been identified and teams will visit these in the coming days.
