    More on the news four men have been killed following a police pursuit in Bradford.

    The four men were in a BMW which hit a tree, at the junction of Toller Lane and Bingley Road, at about 05:30 while being followed by an unmarked police car.

    The incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

    A spokesman said: "It's understood an unmarked West Yorkshire Police car was following the car before the crash."

    The man in charge of finances at Hull City Council says fluoride will not be added to Hull's water supply.

    Councillor Phil Webster says the process known as fluoridation is too expensive.

    Tooth decay levels for under-5s in Hull are almost double the national average, and are much higher than Lincoln which has fluoride in the water.

    However, Councillor Webster calls it mass medication and doesn't think it's right:

    Staffordshire Police has widened its appeal for sightings of a missing midwife to include North Yorkshire.

    Samantha Eastwood holidayed in Whitby earlier this year.

    She hasn't been seen seen leaving Royal Stoke University Hospital almost a week ago, and didn't return for her night shift later that day.

    Liz Rix, chief nurse, said: "Samantha has worked at Royal Stoke for six years and not turning up to work on Friday evening was very much out of character."

    Earlier this week, a man was arrested on suspicion of kidnap following her disappearance.

    The 32-year-old man has since been released under investigation.

    CCTV footage has been released showing the moment police officers tackled two men who ransacked a shop in Sheffield earlier this year.

    Kyle Bayliss, 31, and Connor Roulson, 21, were caught in the act of stealing cigarettes from the One Stop shop on Hatfield House Lane, Shiregreen, on 29 May.

    Police interrupted their late-night escapade.

    One of the men tried to hide a knife in a chiller cabinet, before being tackled by officers.

    Bayliss, of Hucklow Road, Sheffield and Roulson, of Shiregreen Lane, Sheffield, were jailed after being found guilty of aggravated burglary at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday.

    Bayliss was jailed for four years and eight months, with Roulson being jailed for three years and four months.

    The officers have been praised by senior officers from South Yorkshire Police for their bravery.

    We early told you about a serious collision in Bradford - Police have now confirmed the four men seriously injured have died.

    The crash happened at about 05:30 at the junction of Toller Lane and Bingley Road.

    Police say the road is closed and is expected to remain so throughout most of the day.

    The crash came during a police pursuit and the incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

    Police are now at the scene of the crash, which happened at about 05.30 at the junction of Toller Lane and Bingley Road.

    Officers say the road is now closed and is expected to remain so throughout most of the day.

    One of Hull's busiest routes, Bankside, will be closed for another month while flood defence work is finished.

    The road, which had been shut off between Innovation Drive and Air Street since mid-February, was due to reopen in early May, but was delayed due to prolonged work.

    It was then expected to reopen this month, but the Environment Agency say it's now been delayed until September.

    The agency's spending more than £36m on flood protection in the area, and says the work along a 657ft (200m) stretch of the River Hull will provide protection for more than 60,000 properties.

    It said the current defences could fail within two years if it was not undertaken.

    Flooding affected more than 10,000 properties in the city in 2007.

    Firefighters from South Yorkshire tackled a grassland fire, when a field dubbed the Gilroyd Jungle went up in flames last night.

    Six fire engines were sent to the scene at the playing field, in Dodworth near Barnsley, at about 18:00 last night.

    More than 350 people have joined a Facebook group unhappy that the grass was overgrown for so long.

    Phil McNulty saw the blaze and says if most of the grass hadn't been cut last week by the council, the fire would have been far more dangerous.

    "The fire spread very quickly.

    "When it got to the parts that the council have left, there's a banking that they've left and that went in six seconds. It shot up there then up the trees.

    "I do believe the fire would have spread much more quicker had it not been cut."

    Two people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, after two shootings in Bradford in the early hours of Monday.

    The 16-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were both arrested yesterday and remain in custody.

    Police say two men suffered leg injuries in the incidents in the Holmewood area of the city.

    A 17-year-old male and a 20-year-old male arrested on Tuesday have been released under investigation.

    Officers say nine other people have been arrested for assisting an offender.

    Detectives believe the incidents are linked and both are being treated as targeted attacks.

    Former world number one tennis player Andy Murray has beaten British number one Kyle Edmund from Beverley in the second round of the Washington Open.

    Three-time Grand Slam champion Murray booked his place in the last 16 of the Citi Open with a three set victory over Edmund.

    Murray will face Romania's Marius Copil later.

    Edmund beat Murray at Eastbourne in June - in the third match of his return during the grass-court season - before the world number 832 pulled out of Wimbledon.

    He says he gave it his best shot but it just didn't work out this time.

    A Wakefield hockey team for disabled people wants more teams to be set up in Yorkshire.

    Wakefield Hockey Club has what's called a Flyerz team for people with disabilities.

    The club says it's the only one in the region and are on the look out for others to play against.

    A rock-hunting game, which started in Beverley, is taking off in Grimsby and Cleethorpes as a creative aid to relaxation.

    Sally Beaton McIntosh founded the Beverley Rocks, external concept on Facebook.

    Her page, which encourages people to decorate rocks and hide them, now has 21,215 members.

    The idea took off and spread to other towns and villages.

    Now, pebbles painted with colourful pictures or uplifting messages have been hidden in People's Park in Grimsby to encourage conversations about mental health.

    It was organised by the NEXUS mental health youth forum, a partnership project with NAViGO Health and Social Care CIC and various youth projects.

    Free toothbrushes are being given out in Bradford in attempt to improve dental care in the city.

    The Community Dental Service has organised the Big Bradford Brushathon.

    It's organised events during the summer holidays aimed at informing local communities about the importance of a healthy mouth.

    Children and adults are being encouraged to swap their old toothbrush for a new one, and get free toothpaste and oral health advice from the team.

    Bradford South MP, Judith Cummins, says tooth decay is a big problem in the city.

    Figures from Public Health England, external show nearly 3,000 five-year-olds in Yorkshire and the Humber have had a tooth removed because of decay.

  17. Yorkshire Water pledges 40% leak reductionpublished at 07:00

    Yorkshire Water has pledged to cut its leakage rate by 40% by 2025.

    It comes after a meeting with the Secretary of State for the Environment, Michael Gove.

    The company has confirmed it's had to deal with three times as many leaks compared to the same time last year, caused by the very dry ground conditions.

    Yorkshire Water says it currently deals with around 5,500 leaks each year, which cost around £19,000 per day to investigate and repair.

    Demand for water is set to increase as the population in the region is predicted to rise to nearly six million by 2024, so water resilience is a number one priority for the firm.

    An environmentally friendly farming scheme, trialled in North Yorkshire, will be the first project of its kind to be directly funded by the government after Brexit, its been confirmed.

    The pilot scheme has been in place in Wensleydale - it rewards farmers for managing their land in a way which protects rare species and habitats.

    The Environment Secretary's announced the scheme will now receive funding from the government rather than from the EU.

    £100bn of government cash must be spent to revolutionise transport in northern England by 2050, according to more than 80 politicians.

    A cross-party group of MPs and peers from the north is asking the chancellor for regional road and rail links to be improved ahead of the completion of HS2 in 2032.

    They say the money is needed to "reverse decades of underinvestment".

    The government said it was committed to developing "Northern Powerhouse Rail".

    The letter's author, Kevin Hollinrake, Conservative MP for Thirsk and Malton said the proposed Northern Powerhouse Rail (NPR) plan was at a "critical stage."
