As part of the South Bank expansion plans, Leeds City Council has granted permission for a £210m development to be built.
The development will include 928 apartments, cafes, restaurants and additional office and retail space.
The apartments will be built on the former Evans Halshaw site on Hunslet Road.

Three people are being treated at Northern General Hospital in Sheffield following the incident.
Their condition is currently unknown, according to the ambulance service.
A "survival guide" to help university students stay safe during freshers' week has been issued by Humberside Police.

A ban on cars using York's historic Micklegate has moved one step closer after the council agreed to restrict traffic using the street's imposing medieval gateway.
York City Council has agreed in principle to an to an 18-month ban on outward traffic through Micklegate Bar.
The idea's going to public consultation and could eventually see all cars banned from the street, which campaigners say would improve air quality in the city.

Swimmers are expected to crossing the Humber Estuary this weekend to help raise money for a rescue service.
They're due to swim between Barton, in North Lincolnshire, and Hessle, in East Yorkshire, on Sunday to raise funds for the Humber Rescue Service.
