Authorities at York Minster are to review their procedures after a man managed to evade security precautions and climb the cathedral, external.
A 40-year-old man has died after his motorbike collided with a goods vehicle in Otley.
The incident happened on York Gate at about 09:00 on Thursday morning when the biker, riding a black Suzuki, collided with the vehicle which was travelling in the opposite direction.
The motorcyclist died at the scene, police say.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact West Yorkshire Police.
A strike by workers at rail operator Northern who are members of the RMT union will go ahead tomorrow.
This is the latest strike action by Northern workers in their long-running dispute about the role of guards.
The union says passenger safety will be put at risk by getting rid of guards and extending driver-only services.
Talks aimed at resolving the row are due to be held at conciliation service Acas between the RMT and Northern next week, it's been confirmed.
Cars and businesses in the Woodseats and Meersbrook parts of Sheffield have had their windows smashed overnight.
At least two cars and two businesses have had their windows damaged on Valley Road and Meersbrook Park Road.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Services say fire took hold at 10 Briggate at about 07:40 this morning.
The world premiere of the new series of Doctor Who is coming to Sheffield, with an exclusive red carpet event taking place in the city later this month, it's been announced.
Cast members, including new Doctor Jodie Whittaker, Bradley Walsh, Mandip Gill and Tosin Cole, will be on the red carpet on The Moor in the city centre for the first screening of the new doctor's debut.
Fans of the show could also be there as the BBC is offering a random ticket draw for the event on Monday 24 September.
It's not the first time the stars have been in the city, as part of the new series has also been filmed in Sheffield.
Prison staff in England and Wales, including in Yorkshire, are taking part in widespread protests over "unprecedented violence" in jails, the Prison Officers' Association (POA) has said.
Steve Gillan, POA general secretary, called for union members to protest outside their workplaces from 07:00 until "instructed otherwise".
The union says its members are concerned about a damning report which warns of a "dangerous lack of control" at Bedford jail.
Prisons Minister Rory Stewart said: "Prison officers do vital and important work and we urge them to return to their duty stations, in line with their obligations to the law and the prison service."
A teenage boy is being treated in hospital after being shot in the hand and thigh in what police say was a "targeted" shooting in Sheffield.
The 16-year-old was on Manor Oaks in the Wybourn area at about 22:10 last night when he was shot by the passenger of a car which had pulled up alongside him.
The boy is in hospital in a stable condition and his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Police are appealing for information.
Cancer patients in part of West Yorkshire are waiting longer than they should to be seen, it's been revealed.
The NHS trust which runs hospitals in Wakefield, Pontefract and Dewsbury has missed an important target for the fifth month in a row.
At least 85% of patients should receive their first treatment within 62 days of being referred by their GP, according to the government.
But in July only 76% of Mid Yorkshire cancer patients were treated within that time.
And there's a warning the situation won't improve anytime soon.
The trust's Chief Operating Officer has said she can't give any assurance about when waiting times will get better.
A trial ban on advertising boards in parts of York city centre is to continue indefinitely.
The trial to keep the streets free of the boards began in February 2017.
A decision has now been made to keep it in place in an attempt by the City of York Council to "declutter ancient narrow streets."
Such boards obstructing the footpaths leave little "safe space" for pedestrians to use, the council said.
York city centre has many narrow streets that still follow the old pattern within the medieval city walls.
Some street layouts even follow Viking property boundaries dating back 1,000 years.
Obstruction of footpaths was "a growing concern" for people who are blind, partially sighted or use a wheelchair, the council said.
A teenager has been in hospital after being stabbed in the Middlewood area of Sheffield.
Emergency services were called to Winn Grove, at around 17:55 on Wednesday 12 September after reports that an 18-year-old man had been stabbed.
The man was taken to hospital to be treated for a single stab wound to his lower body.
He's since been released from hospital.
Two men, aged 18 and 23, have been arrested on suspicion of assault in connection to the incident.
They have since been released under investigation.

The BBC will broadcast commentary on Sheffield Wednesday games, a month after the club rejected the corporation's deal.
The Owls were the only club out of 62 teams that had expiring broadcast contracts who rejected a new deal in August.
In a statement, the club said following feedback from fans an agreement was reached.
"Talks remained ongoing between the Owls and the BBC following the start of the new season and a deal to the satisfaction of both parties is now in place."
BBC Radio Sheffield will be able to provide exclusive radio commentary of all away games and select home games, starting with The Owls' away trip to Nottingham Forest in 19 September.

Four fire crews are currently on the scene, where smoke is still visible, but the fire is believed to have been put out.

A crash on the M1 has closed lanes on the northbound carriageway.
Pictures from the scene show at least three vehicles have been involved in the crash that is between junction 40 and 41 near Wakefield.
Lane one is closed.

The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, will make a special speech later today to mark the 10th anniversary of a school named after him.
He will appear at The Archbishop Sentamu Academy, which became Hull's first academy when he opened it in September 2018.
A time capsule will be buried at the school and commemorative trees will also be planted.
A police cordon is in place in one part of Sheffield after an incident last night.
Roads in Wybourn have been closed by the police and buses are being diverted.
