Gary Dean's body was found on Thursday 6 September in a wooded area near the Trans Pennine Trail in Silkstone Common. He'd suffered significant injuries, police say.
He was wearing a distinctive red running top when he was found, which police hope may jog people's memories if they were in the area before his death.
Det Ch Insp Steve Whittaker says he hopes people will get in touch with information about Mr Dean's whereabouts that day.
He says: "No matter how small or insignificant you believe your information might be, please pass it on to police.
"Everything we piece together brings us one step closer to understanding what happened and being able to give Gary's family some answers."
A 40-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder and a 76-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender both remain on bail as enquiries continue, police say.

A North Yorkshire man will compete in the World Stone Skimming Championships in Scotland this weekend.
Lee Kettlewell, from Arkengarthdale, will travel to the island of Easdale to skim stones across a disused slate quarry.
He started skimming stones as a child, he said.
Lee says he usually gets between 20 and 25 skims at his "secret training camp" on Aysgarth Falls.
He added he was inspired to enter the competition as it seemed likely that it was the only world championship he had any chance of taking part in.
It's usually footballers who move to Barcelona after being scouted, but one Hull teenager has headed to Spain after being spotted acting.
Ellie Ideson (pictured), 18, bagged herself a place on a prestigious acting course in the Spanish city after she was seen performing in a play inspired by the true story of eight men from Hull who went to fight in the Spanish Civil War.
Ellie and her classmates from the Archbishop Sentamu Academy performed the play, called Ocho, in the city.
Her performance was so impressive that she was offered a scholarship to study at the Institute of the Arts in Barcelona.
Ellie, who has now moved to Spain, says: "It's wonderful, absolutely amazing. I'm buzzing."
She says she's "kinda lucky" because the course is taught in English, so she doesn't need to learn Spanish just yet.
Commuters in York have been reacting to a report which identified who was to blame for rail delays and cancellations earlier this year.
The Office of Rail and Road blamed a lack of "responsibility and accountability" for the problems.
It said passengers had been "badly treated".
Passengers suffered delays and cancellations after the rail industry attempted to introduce the biggest timetable change in a generation.
At York railway station this morning, Tom Cullen, a regular commuter, said: “One day it took me six hours to get back to York from Manchester
"Another time I had to go down to Crewe and across to Doncaster and back up again – it’s been madness.”
Diane Robson from York, said the summer's disruption made her late for work several times: “When you go to a station you expect a train to be there at a certain time and there’s no advance warning it’s cancelled
“Today I turned up for a train that was cancelled and now I’m going to be an hour late," she added.
