    Three hundred people are expected to sleep in the open at Halifax's Piece Hall tonight to raise money for homeless people.

    The sleep-out's being organised by the charity Calderdale Smart Move, which says it's seeing a rise in the number of people who don't have a permanent address coming to them for help.

    Chris Walker from the charity says the problem is getting worse every year and the event will only give people a "slight insight" into what it's really like to sleep outside:

    Police are asking people in West Yorkshire for help in locating a missing 67-year-old man.

    Noel O'Driscoll has gone missing from Keighley.

    He was last seen just before 16:00 yesterday.

    He's described as white, about 5ft 7in tall, with short grey hair and brown eyes.

    Anyone with any information about his whereabouts is being asked to contact police.

    A Hollywood blockbuster starring Dwayne Johnson and Idris Elba is to film in a small North Yorkshire village.

    Hobbs and Shaw, a spin-off from the Fast and Furious franchise, is to use locations around Eggborough, which has a population of about 2,000 people.

    Universal Pictures confirmed shooting would take place in November, but would not reveal if The Rock or his A-list colleagues would be involved.

    Residents have been told filming would take place at the decommissioned Eggborough power station.

    Other actors appearing in the action adventure include British actors Jason Statham and Vanessa Kirby.

    Army cadets from Yorkshire are among 4,000 young people who have travelled to the Somme battlefields in northern France.

    Sunday marks the centenary of the end of World War One.

    The trips provided an opportunity for the teenagers to learn more about the war and their families' experiences of it.

    They also took part in parades to commemorate the soldiers who lost their lives.

    The Hindu festival of lights lasts for five days.

    Diwali itself was marked on Wednesday.

    Mylnhurst Early Years School, in Sheffield, have been drawing special masks and learning about what the festival means to those who celebrate it.

    Some residents in East Yorkshire say they're being left in fear after a surge in illegal lamping.

    Lamping is the hunting of wild animals at night using a high powered spotlight.

    Humberside Police began Operation Zodiac to clamp down on poachers last night.

    Officers say Operation Zodiac is their response to illegal nighttime hunting activity.

    Reports of badger digging are also being investigated by the wildlife crime team.

    The team say they are working closely with the East Riding Badger Protection Group to map and monitor setts and ensure offences are discovered as illegal activity often goes unnoticed and reported.

    Firefighters in York are damping down after a blaze destroyed the roof of a restaurant near the River Ouse in the city centre.

    Exactly 10 years since a grandmother was killed in an arson attack in Wakefield, police are making a fresh call for witnesses to come forward.

    Lea Brooke, 81, died after someone poured white spirit through her letterbox in Sandal Grange and set it alight.

    She left behind five children.

    Police are hoping someone may have seen something on the night they haven't reported before.

    Appeals, including one on the BBC's Crimewatch programme, have been made, but her killer has not been caught.

    Police said whoever killed her had a "terrible burden to carry".

    Detectives believe Ms Brooke may have been the victim of mistaken identity.

    The Prime Minister will lay wreathes at the graves of the first and last British soldiers to be killed in World War One, among them York-born Pte George Edwin Ellison.

    He was the last British soldier to be killed in World War One.

    He died on the Western Front at about 09:30, before the Armistice came into effect at 11:00, 100 years ago this Sunday.

    Theresa May will be joined at the commemorations for the Armistice centenary by the French President and Belgian Prime Minister.

    A cafe which helps homeless people is appealing for fresh donations after thieves broke in and stole hampers which were going to be raffled off to raise funds.

    The break-in at the Kingfisher cafe on West Street in Bridlington happened overnight last Sunday.

    The stolen hampers contained toys and gift sets.

    Cafe spokeswoman Rosie French is appealing to people in the town to rally round and replace the items which have been stolen.

    Christmas arrives in Leeds tonight and it's expected to be a knock-out.

    The city's lights are being switched on by Leeds-born Josh Warrington, the current IBF featherweight world champion.

    Josh said: "I'm a very proud Leeds lad and this year has already been fantastic for me, making history becoming Leeds' first male World Champion.

    "It’s going to be an absolute pleasure turning on the Christmas lights and getting everyone into the spirit of Christmas."
