  2. CCTV released as concerns grow for missing womanpublished at 08:14 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2019

    Police "increasingly concerned" for the welfare of a woman missing from South Yorkshire for more than a month have released CCTV footage of her last confirmed sighting:

    Alena Grlakova was last seen in the Travellers Inn, Parkgate, in Rotherham on Boxing Day last year.

    She left the pub just before 19:00.

    She is described as slim, with blonde shoulder-length hair and tattoos on her hands.

    In the CCTV she's wearing a black long-sleeved top and black trousers with a white stripe down the side, and hair extensions.

    Supt Iain Chorlton of Rotherham District said: “We are very concerned for Alena’s welfare.

    “The last confirmed sighting we have is from the Travellers Inn, where she only stayed a short amount of time, but we don’t know where she went from there.

    “If you know Alena, and have seen her since Boxing Day, please get in touch.

    "We would also like to hear from the man who appears to join Alena at her table, it's hoped she may have mentioned where she was planning to go, or he may have seen the direction she travelled after she left."

    Almost £100m is going to be spent on improving council houses in East Yorkshire.

    Over the next four years, work to upgrade and repair properties will include fitting new kitchens and bathrooms, re-roofing, replacing boilers, fitting new windows and adapting homes for disabled tenants.

    East Riding Council has more than 11,000 properties, made up of a mixture of houses, bungalows and flats.

    These range from homes in Flamborough and Bridlington in the north, to Withernsea in the east and the suburbs surrounding Hull and across to Goole in the west.

    A paraglider who suffered a serious spinal injury in a crash in North Yorkshire is raising money for the air ambulance service which came to his aid.

    Jonathan Thomas was paragliding from Captain Cook's Monument last July when the weather changed, forcing him to crash into a quarry in Great Ayton.

    The 53-year-old from Darlington is undertaking a sponsored kayak across Scotland to raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance, which needs more than £5m a year to keep running.

    Police who want to speak to a man about threatening and abusive behaviour are warning members of the public not to approach him.

    Officers from the South Yorkshire force are asking for the public’s help to trace 62-year-old Darren Sales.

    They say he frequents the Holbrook traveller site and Long Acre View areas of Sheffield.

    He is described as 5ft 7ins tall, clean shaven, with grey hair and a stocky build.

    Anyone who sees him is being asked not to approach him, but to instead call South Yorkshire Police.

    Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to after a woman reported she was sexually assaulted on a bus in Hull.

    The woman reported an assault on the lower deck of the number 63 bus by a man who then got off on Calvert Lane at about 14:00 on Friday 14 December.

    Police in South Yorkshire have released shocking pictures of a car which hit a tree at speed as a warning to motorists who drive too fast.

    No other vehicle was involved in the crash in Doncaster.

    Officers said: "The collision occurred as result of speeding and colliding with a tree leaving the car unrecognisable and driver with multiple injuries.

    "Speed limits are in place for the safety all, stay safe and stick to the limit!"
