    A truck full of stolen boilers worth about £160,000 has been found in West Yorkshire.

    The Iveco Ford cargo vehicle was stolen before being used to take 80 boilers from a business.

    Officers found the truck and the boilers, along with a stolen Audi SQ5, near Pickles Street in Batley on Wednesday.

    Police say the Audi was stolen from the Penistone area of South Yorkshire on Friday 8 February between 11:00 and 15:30.

    South Yorkshire Police are "carrying out extensive enquiries to trace the person or persons responsible" and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

    Hull's Ennerdale Leisure Centre could be in line for a major upgrade with a budget of £1.9m set aside for the project.

    The work is expected to improve the sauna facilities, water systems, roof and other areas of the building.

    It's likely to be closed for up to six months if the plans are approved by the Council's Cabinet on Monday.

    Third Energy's plans to drill in Kirby Misperton near Pickering in Ryedale are set out in the renewal of its licence for the area.

    This target will depend on it meeting the government's financial resilience test.

    Anti-fracking campaigners say they're determined to "fight them every step of the way".

    Today marks the 200th anniversary of the opening of Sheffield's canal and a special event is due to be held later in celebration.

    More than 60,000 people turned out to watch a flotilla of boats make the first journey along the canal 200 years ago.

    The city was landlocked until the Sheffield and Tinsley canal - famously seen in the film Full Monty - opened it up to the world of trade.

    A tenth arrest has been made in connection to the death of Doncaster boxer Tom Bell who died after being shot through a pub window.

    Police have made a series of arrests after the 21-year-old was fatally injured following a shooting at the Maple Tree pub on Plantation Road, Balby, on 17 January.

    South Yorkshire Police arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of assisting an offender in relation to murder.

    He has been bailed as the investigation continues.

    Two of those previously arrested have been charged with murder and remanded in custody.

    Thousands of people have witnessed a fly-past honouring 10 airmen who died when their plane crashed in a Sheffield park 75 years ago.

    The US bomber - a B-17 Flying Fortress known as Mi Amigo - came down in Endcliffe Park on 22 February 1944, killing everyone on board.

    A campaign for a fly-past started after a chance meeting between BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker and Tony Foulds.

    Tony, 82, witnessed the crash and regularly tends to the park's memorial.

    He believes the pilot took action to avoid crashing into him and his friends playing in the park.

    There were tears and applause as the fly-past, in memory of 10 US airmen killed when their plane crashed in a Sheffield park in 1944, passed overhead this morning.

    The fly-past had long been the dream of Tony Foulds, who witnessed the crash as a child, who has cared for the memorial to the dead airmen for years.

  16. Watch: Crashed plane 'was a pile of ashes'published at 08:04 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2019

    A man who saw the remains of a crashed US bomber in Sheffield 75 years ago has returned to the site for the first time in decades to see a memorial to those who lost their lives.

    The B-17 Flying Fortress came down in Endcliffe Park in 1944 killing all 10 airmen on board.

    Ray Neil, who was 14 when he saw the wreckage of the plane, said it "was a pile of ashes".

    Now he's gone back to the site to see the memorial ahead of today's fly-past to mark the anniversary of the crash:

    An exhibition will be held in East Yorkshire next week to update members of the public on the progress of multi-million pound flood defences.

    There will be photographs, videos and plans at the drop-in event.

    It is being held between 11:00 and 16:00 on Monday and Tuesday at East Riding Leisure Haltemprice in Anlaby.

    Members of the project teams will be on hand to speak about the work, expected to reduce the risk of flooding for more than 8,000 homes and businesses in the Cottingham, Anlaby, East Ella and Hessle areas.
