    Plans have been backed to build a coastal holiday home for seriously ill children in memory of Bradley Lowery.

    The young Sunderland supporter, from Blackhall Colliery, County Durham, died aged six in July 2017 after battling the child cancer neuroblastoma.

    One of his last family holidays was to Scarborough, North Yorkshire.

    His charity aims to build on land gifted to it by Scarborough Borough Council.

    It has been recommended for approval by the authority's planning officers.

    The proposal for a five-bedroom house, on land off Burniston Road, will be considered by the council's planning and development committee at a meeting on 11 April, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.

    Judge Sarah Lynch said she hoped one day the girl - who social workers feared could not be kept safe with her mother - would read the words.

    The mother wrote to the court in Leeds: "I will always love her, she is my daughter but I am doing this for her."

    Judge Lynch said she could not imagine the pain the woman had suffered.

    Details of the case have emerged in a ruling published by the judge following a private family court hearing.

    Sheffield City Council has agreed to suspend its £50,000 annual membership fee to a tourism body while investigations take place into its former chief executive.

    The council will stop its payments to Welcome to Yorkshire until two independent investigations have concluded into Sir Gary Verity's expenses and behaviour, a council meeting heard.

    On Tuesday, West Yorkshire Police said it was not clear "if any criminal offences have been committed" and plans to meet with the tourism body to discuss the matter.

    Sir Gary's legal team said he "made errors of judgement, it was nothing more than that".

    A lap dancing club in Sheffield has been discussed at a council meeting today after campaigners hired private investigators to find out what really goes on inside.

    According to their report, club rules were broken, with dancers regularly having deliberate physical contact both with clients and each other.

    Sheffield council leader Julie Dore walked out of the meeting,as the information was so graphic, but she says they are looking into it.

    The national chain, which has had a branch on Brown Street for more than 15 years, says they take breaches of their rules very seriously.

    Clapham Primary in the Yorkshire Dales is more than 150 years old but North Yorkshire County Council says the school is struggling financially and can't provide the breadth of education that the children need.

    Ken Pearce from the Clapham Community Action group which is fighting the closure, says without the school young families won't move into the village and it would become a "pensioners' ghetto".

    Margaret Aspinall, the chairwoman of the Hillsborough Family Support Group, has said thanked the jury in the trial of match commander David Duckenfield, saying that it has "not been easy for them as it's not been easy for the families".

    Hull City Council's plan for a new £130m development on the site of the old BHS building has been approved today.

    However, the council will have to to provide evidence of how it's going to save the famous Three Ships mural.

    An outline planning application has been approved for the new Albion Square development, which will include a new ice arena, homes, offices and shops.

    The council intends to save the Three Ships mural and it has to evidence how that might be made possible before the full development gets the go ahead.

    There are also plans to save a further two Alan Boyson murals which have been found inside the building.

    Full plans will go before councillors in the future and demolition of the BHS building is likely to take place later this year.

    Councillor Daren Hale, portfolio holder for economic investment and regeneration, said: “The Albion Square development is a key site in the council’s long-term strategy for the city centre.

    “We are delighted that the council’s vision for Hull could be realised, it’s a truly exciting time.”

    In a statement issued after a jury failed to reach a verdict over a charge of gross negligence manslaughter against match commander David Duckenfield, the club spokesman said:

    Officers are continuing to investigate after shots were fired in two separate incidents in the Shirecliffe area of Sheffield on Wednesday, 27 March.

    Shots were were fired at the junction of Shirecliffe Road and Longley Avenue West between 16:30 and 17:00.

    South Yorkshire Police say that "there was a second firearm discharge" on nearby Cooks Wood Road, close to the traffic lights at Rutland Road.
