West Yorkshire Police shared a picture of the crash, which happened this morning, saying an investigation was ongoing and disruption was likely while the HGV was recovered.
The incident took place on the southbound carriageway of the A1(M) and M1 split at junction 43.

An online consultation into air pollution in Sheffield has been launched in a bid to find out what local residents think.
The city council wants people to have their say on a proposed clean air zone which would see the most polluting vehicles charged when travelling in the city centre.
Taxis, lorries and vans are all being targeted, with the council hoping the zones will encourage drivers to upgrade to less polluting vehicles.
Work has begun on a £1.76m refurbishment project at Hull's Ennerdale Leisure Centre.
The facility is due to remain closed until January while work is carried out to renovate the reception area, cafe, fitness gym, studio and sauna space and build new disabled changing facilities.
Work will also be carried out to refurbish the centre's electrical and mechanical services.
From today there will be free bus travel to Woodford Leisure Centre in Holderness Road on Holderness Road.

Fire crews were called out to a farm in North Yorkshire after 100 tonnes of chicken manure "spontaneously combusted".
Firefighters were called at about 23:25 on Sunday to reports of the manure smouldering in a barn in Northallerton.
The farmer used a digger to move the manure and help cool it down, according to North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.
Police were called in the early hours of Monday.

The 48-year-old cyclist was riding along New Road, near Cawthorne, when he collided with a blue VW Golf near to the junction with Jewett House Lane, at about 13:30 on Saturday.
The driver of the car was not injured.

A woman and a two-year-old boy needed medical treatment after anti-freeze was thrown at them during a car park dispute, police say.
It happened at Lidl, on Oak Tree Lane, Gipton, Leeds, at about 19:15 on Saturday.
West Yorkshire Police said the woman, 27, and child were both treated at the scene for skin irritation before the child taken to hospital for further checks.
The force said the incident took place following a dispute between the woman and two males in a black Toyota Yaris, with one of the men throwing the liquid.
Police have appealed for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

Emergency Services were called to Saffron Drive, in Allerton, at about 04:25 after receiving a report of a man lying in the road.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Saffron Drive is currently closed between Sonning Road and Leyden Rise and a police cordon is in place.
West Yorkshire Police are advising people to avoid the area while inquiries continue to establish the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The first of Northern's brand new trains will take passengers in Yorkshire today.
The first of 101 new trains are being used between Leeds and Doncaster.
This is part of a £500m fleet of new trains that will be introduced over the next year, they'll eventually help replace the old Pacer trains.
The Pacer trains could still be used next year though because of a design fault on the new fleet, the Sunday Times reported., external

A woman has died and a man is in a critical condition after a head-on crash in West Yorkshire.
A Honda Civic and a Toyota Prius taxi crashed on the A628 Castle Syke Hill, Pontefract, at 21:30 BST on Friday.
The woman, 69, who was in the back of the taxi, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Honda driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
A 70-year-old man who was in the front passenger seat of the taxi is in a critical condition in hospital, with the 45-year-old male taxi driver also seriously injured.
A 16-year-old girl who was a passenger in the Honda was also seriously hurt.
West Yorkshire Police appealed for witnesses to contact them.
