A "pioneering" scheme in Sheffield has helped boost children's sleep by 2.4 hours a night, according to NHS England.
A pilot scheme involving 40 families at Sheffield Children's Hospital's sleep clinic - in combination with NHS England and the local council - aims to improve children's sleep patterns.
Some of the 800 children referred to the hospital were waking up 40 times a night, one parent said.
According to NHS England, the scheme has led to children gaining nearly two and a half extra hours of sleep per night.
The time taken to fall asleep also dropped from over two hours to just over 30 minutes.
Parents and carers say their quality of life has improved, including a better relationship with their child, the NHS says.

It's taken five days to put up and will operate until the end of August.

William Abbott, managing director of Observation Wheel UK Ltd, said: "Visitors will get a unique perspective over the town and see the bay from the sky."
Have you seen Lewis White?
He was last seen on Friday evening leaving his mother's address in Mexborough at about 21:00.

Lewis was last seen wearing black jogging bottoms and a grey t-shirt with print on it.
He is described as being about 5ft 10ins tall with light brown hair and blue eyes.
He has distinctive tattoos on both side of his neck and has tattoos on his arms and back.
A woman fought off two men trying to steal a backpack containing vital medical equipment during a suspected robbery in Hull.
The woman was sitting in Jameson Street at about 14:00 on Friday when she was approached by two men, who took her ice cream and drink.
Police say the pair then demanded money and tried to take her rucksack, before fleeing in the direction of Queen's Gardens after she fought back.
One of the men was wearing a blue T-shirt, shorts and white trainers and riding a silver bike while the other wore grey jogging bottoms and a blue T-shirt.
Police officers want to hear from anyone who has any information about the incident.
A fine, sunny, morning will be followed by a cloudy afternoon with heavy showers and thunderstorms.
The showers will continue this evening with a continued risk of thunder:
The family of a sexual abuse victim is calling for a public inquiry into how a West Yorkshire paedophile was allowed to continue abusing boys for more than 40 years despite police attention.
Philip Longbottom, 69, from Shipley, has been convicted of more than 50 offences against 18 boys between 1968 and 2010.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) turned down attempts at a prosecution three times due to a lack of evidence.
The CPS said its "approach to this type of offending has evolved considerably".
In April, a court heard the father-of-three and scout leader used his wealth and influence to befriend victims' families and then bribe or threaten children to keep them quiet.
Longbottom was jailed for a minimum of seven years in 2016 and was ordered to serve at least six more after a second prosecution.
Wendy Murray's brother, Andrew Duggan, was one of his 18 victims and died in 2010 aged 47.
She said she felt "angry and let down" by the CPS and is pushing for an inquiry into why a prosecution did not take place sooner.
