The conditions regarding the installation of the cycle track were so poorly written by Sheffield Council that they were unenforceable, the BBC has learned.

Now the famous Scandinavian flat-pack firm says it has "carried out some improvements to footway routes" in the area.

Sheffield Council says it was disappointed to hear Ikea wouldn't be building the cycle lane and that "lessons would be learned".

In a statement, a council spokesperson said: "We have now begun a review to make sure any conditions we do recommend to a developer are transferred into full planning applications and subsequent developments, and that this process is better monitored.”

Hugh Powell (pictured), who was deployed to France with the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) during 1939 and 1940, is calling for their role in the war to be recognised.

British veterans who helped liberate France have been given the Legion d'Honneur, France's highest military and civilian honour.

But Mr Powell and his son Trevor wrote to French President Emmanuel Macron suggesting he extend the award to the few remaining members of the BEF, however no action has so far been taken.

So they have now started a petition, external to honour the role of the BEF.

Breast Cancer Haven, which has a walk-in centre in Leeds, says more than 55,000 women are diagnosed with the disease every year.

She says: "A lot of psychological concerns don't fall under severe mental health and people may go to a GP and ask for counselling and be put on a waiting list for nine months."
