    Emergency services were called to a house fire on Brighton Street at about 06:00 this morning, police say.

    Details of the incident haven't been revealed yet, but police say "investigations are currently at an early stage and officers are working to establish the full circumstances."

    A lap dancing bar in York has been given permission to open earlier and longer on race days.

    Black Orchid, on Toft Green, had applied to have its licence renewed and also sought permission to open at 18:00 rather than 21:00 when there is horse racing in the city.

    The club was also told it could now stay open on those days until 04:30 rather than 03:30 in the morning.

    The council says it had no complaints about the venue or objections about the licence.

    A "large quantity" of cocaine, £10,000 in cash, 200 cannabis plants and a car have been seized in Sheffield during a "wide-scale" police operation.

    Officers say 17 people were arrested in raids across the city yesterday on suspicion of offences including burglary, domestic assault and drugs.

    The cannabis plants were found in properties in Darnall and Upperthorpe, with the cocaine and cash being recovered in Burngreave.

    Chf Insp Lynne Lancaster added: "Some 326 cars were also stopped in a wide-reaching speeding operation, resulting in the seizure of a stolen vehicle suspected to have been used in seven burglaries."

    A group which was founded in West Yorkshire which is aimed at promoting men's mental health is to undertake a weekend tour of its 22 centres across the UK.

    The Andy's Man Club bus tour comes ahead of World Suicide Prevention Day on Tuesday.

    The organisation was formed in Halifax after the death of 23-year-old Andy Roberts, who took his own life in April 2016.

    The charity was formed by former rugby league player Luke Ambler after the death of Mr Roberts, his brother-in-law, to raise awareness of mental health issues among young men.

    Neil Waine, one of the volunteers who will board a bus for the trip, said: "Our aim is to save one man's life."

    "When I first went, illness and injury meant I'd lost my job, my house and the plot. Andy's Man Club has changed my life and I see that every week."

    Starting in Halifax on Saturday, one bus will travel north visiting clubs in northern England and Scotland while the other will head south, travelling as far Wales and the south west of England.

    In Yorkshire, Andy's Man Club meets in Bradford, Dewsbury, Halifax, Hebden Bridge, Huddersfield, Hull, Leeds, Sheffield and Wakefield.

    Four people have been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences and thousands of pounds' worth of drugs and cash were seized after a Hull drug deal was interrupted by police.

    It followed a suspected deal in an alley off Fitzroy Street on Thursday where a 43-year-old was spotted by police and searched.

    He was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug.

    A property was also searched on the street where a 41-year-old man from Hull and a 29-year-old man from Widnes were arrested for being concerned in and possession with intent to supply a controlled drug.

    About £800 worth of wraps of Class A drugs were found along with £500 in cash, police say.

    The day before, a 19-year-old Sheffield man was arrested for possession with intent to supply Class A drugs after a suspected deal in an alleyway off Kings Bench Street.

    He was searched with £935 in cash being found with 26 wraps of crack cocaine and 15 wraps of heroin worth an estimated £800.

    He has been released under investigation, Humberside Police say.

    Officers say they are "very concerned" for the welfare of William Tunningley, who was last seen yesterday afternoon.

    He's described as slim and about 5ft 7ins tall.

    When last seen he was wearing blue jeans, a navy blue bomber jacket and slippers.

    John Robins said he was pleased his force had been chosen to be the "focal point" of a campaign to recruit 20,000 new officers nationally.

    However, he said he was "disappointed" Boris Johnson's speech in Wakefield on Thursday was broadened out to cover other issues.

    Mr Robins said “It was the understanding of West Yorkshire Police any involvement of our officers was solely about police officer recruitment."

    The Chief Constable added: "We had no prior knowledge the speech would be broadened to other issues until it was delivered."

    A 51-year-old woman, from Goole, died when the VW Passat she was driving collided with a lorry, a car transporter and another car.

    It happened at about 10:45 on the M62 eastbound near junction 23 and resulted in the carriageway being closed for about eight hours.

    West Yorkshire Police said a 47-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released under investigation.

    Anybody with dashcam footage of the crash is asked to get in touch with the force.

    The discovery of newts in an area of York may delay by two years the £3.6m upgrade of a major roundabout.

    The widening of entrances and exits on Monks Cross roundabout was due to be completed by next month, but may not now be completed until June 2021.

    The work is part of a £38m upgrade to York's outer ring road.

    City of York Council says the 20-month potential delay is the worst-case scenario and is due to problems buying land in the area to provide a new home for great crested newts.

    Councillor Andy D’Agorne said: “Negotiations to buy the land we need for the new roundabout layout are proving more difficult than we’d anticipated.

    It follows reports reports of a person with a gun being seen in the Hadfield Close area of Darnall at about 22:00 last night.

    A window was reportedly damaged a short time later, with the damage being "consistent with a firearms discharge".

    Nobody was injured in the incident and an investigation is under way, say police.

    A musical has been written based on the life of a teenager from Dewsbury who touched the hearts of TV viewers across the country.

    "Mushy" was a pupil at Thornhill Community Academy, which featured in the Channel 4 series Educating Yorkshire.

    Viewers saw him learn to cope with his stammer thanks to teacher Mr Burton and a pair of headphones.

    The musical, Mushy: Lyrically Speaking, is coming to Leeds next month.

    Julie Waterhouse, 56, was last seen at about 08:00 on Wednesday in the Burns Road area of Rotherham.

    She has not been seen or heard from since and her family are growing increasingly concerned, police say.

    She is described as being about 5ft 4ins tall, of slim build with grey hair.

    She was last seen wearing a blue top with a duck pattern, a green hooded fleece, blue jeans and trainers.

    Anybody who has seen her is being asked to get in touch with South Yorkshire Police.
