After 24 years it will move 17 miles down the road to Newby Hall and Gardens, near Ripon.

Organisers say it's about "future proofing" the event and that it would be "too expensive" to continue to stage it at the Great Yorkshire Showground.

More than 40,000 people are expected at this year's event which began today and continues over the weekend.

Flower show organisers say the Spring Flower Show will remain at its current home at the Great Yorkshire Showground.

Members of Bradford Council’s Regulatory and Appeals Committee yesterday agreed to expand a number of Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) in Bradford city centre, Keighley town centre, Bingley town centre and Shipley town centre.

The orders allow authorised officers to request, where they reasonably believe consumption of alcohol within the area will lead to anti-social behaviour, the surrender of any alcohol.

Failure to comply with the request is a criminal offence to which a fixed-penalty notice or fine can be imposed.

Members approved to extend all the orders except the one for West Bowling.

Yesterday planners approved the 1,440-inmate jail at Full Sutton in East Yorkshire, despite more than 2,800 objections, including from police.

The jail - where a Category C facility will be built alongside the current maximum security Category A and B wings - is part of government plans for 10,000 new prison places nationally.

Prisons Minister Lucy Frazer says: "It will create and support hundreds of jobs, during construction and afterwards, and will be a major boost to the local economy."

People living nearby say it's wrong place to put it and are disappointed with the decision.

The Queensbury Tunnel, a disused railway tunnel connecting Holmfield and Queensbury, is among buildings to make the The Victorian Society's list of "absorbing" Victorian and Edwardian architecture most at risk of ruin.

The scheme, now in its 12th year, uses public nominations to determine which buildings to list.

The two-mile (3.2km) long disused railway tunnel was Great Northern Railway's longest tunnel when it was opened in 1878 .

It's currently abandoned and flooded with water and is at the centre of a heated debate.

Campaigners want it restored and turned into a cycle path.

The Department for Transport wants to fill in sections of the tunnel with concrete then leave it to collapse.
