Mr Pawlak, 30, from Wakefield, was found on Pinderfields Road by police officers shortly after midnight on Monday and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three males who were arrested on Monday in connection with his death have been released pending further inquiries, according to police.

The vehicles were involved in a pursuit at about 14:05, according to South Yorkshire Police.
Two police cars were damaged in the smash on St Mary’s Roundabout in the city centre.
Pictures from the scene show two damaged police cars and a damaged VW Golf.
A lane has been closed as the damaged cars are recovered.
Teenage football referees in North Yorkshire are to wear purple shirts or yellow armbands at junior matches following concerns about a rise in abuse they face from the sidelines.
The move is to remind parents and club officials that they are still children themselves and learning the game.
The initiative puts referees who are 18 under in brightly coloured shirts, to act as a visual deterrent.
Other parts of the country have already been running the scheme, including in Cheltenham and Lincolnshire.

Sportswear designer Amelia Le Bruin left the famous tent after a battle in Bread Week.
She was unable to rise to the challenge of tear-and-share, baps and scored bread in the week Michael was named star baker.
After being sent home by Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, Amelia said exiting the tent had felt like the end of a relationship.
She said: "The whole process of leaving the tent felt a bit like a break-up.
"The sadness, the denial, a bit of 'it's not you it's me', so you have to remind yourself it's still an amazing achievement."

The force has released CCTV images of three men they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

Plans to spend £4.3m on renovating Queens Gardens in Hull will be discussed by councillors later.
More than 150 established trees could be removed to allow for redesigning the area, though replacement planting would take place.
Money would also be spent on improving accessibility and better lighting for future events.
The former working dock is described as being "perfect for an al fresco lunch, a game of football or a leisurely stroll", according to the council.

The teenage sister of Doncaster's One Direction star Louis Tomlinson died accidentally after taking a lethal cocktail of drugs, a coroner has concluded.
Felicite Tomlinson, 18, was found unresponsive by a friend at her west London flat in March.
The pair had taken cocaine the night before and although emergency services attempted to resuscitate Miss Tomlinson, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A toxicology report revealed there were traces of cocaine and the medications Xanax and OxyContin in her system.
Coroner Shirley Radcliffe said the combination of the drugs "proved fatal".
Concluding the teenager's death was a result of misadventure and drugs toxicity, Dr Radcliffe said: "[Felicite] was a bright, much-loved daughter and sister."
Cumbria now has access to the latest round of money to spend on flood defences.
The government says Cumbria will have a share of more than £62m - which will go to parts of Yorkshire, the North East and the South East.
Projects in Kendal, Egremont and Flimby, near Maryport will receive the funding.
£5m is going to Kendal to pay for the final stage of work in the town.
Egremont will get £1.65m and Flimby is in line for £400,000.
A woman who was involved in a crash on the A1M last month has died in hospital.
The 48-year-old was a passenger on a black Yamaha motorcycle when it collided with a Vauxhall Corsa just before junction 35 near Doncaster on 23 August.
She was taken to hospital alongside the 55-year-old male rider with serious injuries.
South Yorkshire Police have now said the woman died in hospital on 3 September.
The force is continuing to appeal for witnesses to the crash, especially people who may have dash camera footage.
