    Pub giant Wetherspoons is planning a £1m expansion of its branch in Bingley town centre.

    If approved, the Myrtle Grove will be built into the former Natwest building on Main Street.

    The work will include converting the vacant bank into a beer garden and roof terrace.

    A spokesman for the pub company says the expansion is needed due to the Bingley branch being “extremely popular,” and they believe the work will “act as a catalyst for further investment in the town.”

    Bradford Council are expected to make a decision in early March.

    Police officers in Sheffield are appealing for help to find a man who hasn't been seen for almost a month.

    Andrew Chamley, 51, was reported missing on Christmas Eve, but he was last seen leaving Yew Lane, Ecclesfield, on Thursday 12 December.

    He hasn't been heard from since, police say.

    He is known to visit the Parson Cross and Longley areas of Sheffield, South Yorkshire Police say.

    Anybody who has seen Andrew is asked to get in touch with police.

    The owners of 13 high rise buildings in West Yorkshire with "unsafe cladding" have until midnight tonight to commit to removing the material.

    In December 2019 West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) sent letters to those responsible for the buildings in Bradford, Leeds, and Huddersfield, warning of the risk to life and asking for unsafe cladding to be removed.

    The fire service wrote to the owners of Skyline (pictured), Quay One, 20:20 House, McClure House, McClintock House, Crozier House, One Brewery Wharf, Aruba, Montague and the St Georges Building in Leeds, as well as City Exchange and Landmark House in Bradford and the Castings in Huddersfield.

    The letter was prompted by the Grenfell Tower fire in June 2017 which killed 72 people.

    WYFRS said it had identified a number of buildings with "ongoing issues related to flammable cladding and/or insulation".

    The fire service says it'll assess the responses and restrict access to buildings where inadequate plans have been made.

    An East Yorkshire woman who was caught on camera stealing from her elderly grandparents in an "appalling crime" has been handed an 18-month suspended prison sentence.

    Mellissa Collier, 28, stole varying amounts of cash totalling £230 from her grandparents home in Hull between May and June last year.

    Hull Crown Court heard she would "sneak in and help herself".

    Collier, of Trinity Court, Hull, admitted six charges of burglary and theft at a previous hearing.

    The court heard her grandparents thought they had "lost leave of their senses" when they found cash going missing, with their suspicions falling on their carer.

    Prosecutor Stephen Welch told the court her family, "couldn't believe a family member could be so sly to do this to a 92-year-old grandfather and her grandmother".

    Sentencing her, Judge Paul Watson told Collier she had taken advantage of her grandparents' trust.

    He described her offending as "the most appalling case, a catalogue of appalling crimes".

    Thieves have attempted to steal two cash machines overnight in Yorkshire, police say.

    An ATM was stolen from a garage in North Yorkshire at 02:45 this morning.

    North Yorkshire Police say it happened at the Spaceways Service Station (pictured above), Nether Poppleton, in York.

    The area is currently cordoned off while an investigation is carried out.

    An hour earlier three masked men with tools "significantly damaged" an ATM at a Barclays bank in Market Place, Wetherby, in West Yorkshire.

    Officers say they don't believe any cash was stolen in the attempt.

    Police are asking for anyone who witnessed either of the incidents to get in touch.

    Siemens hopes the building in Goole will form part of a £200m manufacturing facility on a nearby site.

    It's all part of a "world-class rail village", the company says.

    New trains for London Underground are being built at the site.

    The planning application for the new development has been submitted to East Riding of Yorkshire Council by developer Wykeland Group, on behalf of Siemens Mobility Limited.

    A video showing a pack of hunting dogs mauling a roe deer as it tries to escape has been released.

    West Yorkshire Hunt Saboteurs recorded the footage on land north of Askham Richard in North Yorkshire on Saturday.

    The group claimed the dogs were from the Badsworth and Bramham, Moor/York and Ainsty South hunting groups and were "out of control".

    The video showed the deer being caught by the dogs and attacked three times before it manages to escape.

    The protesters, who posted the clip on their Facebook page, said the hounds "came across a deer, repeatedly bringing it to the ground, along with killing a rabbit".

    A spokesperson for the York and Ainsty South Hunt said: "We are aware of an unfortunate incident which took place on Saturday, 4 January, which happened purely as a direct result of the actions of the anti-hunting activists.

    "These hunt saboteurs were blowing a hunting horn and distracting the hounds which took a few of them off the trail which had been laid for them to follow.

    North Yorkshire Police said officers had attended the location and appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.

    Police in East Yorkshire say they are "extremely concerned" for the safety of a missing teenager.

    Alexa Kirk (pictured), 13, from Hull, was last seen in the city yesterday afternoon.

    Officers say it's possible Alexa is somewhere in Hull's town centre.

    The missing teenager is described as being about 5ft 9ins tall, well built with long strawberry blonde hair.

    She was last seen wearing her school uniform, which is a white shirt, school tie and a black blazer.

    Anyone who sees her is being urged to contact police immediately.

    Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a two-year-old boy.

    Emergency services were called to a house in Bosworth Road, in Adwick, Doncaster, on Wednesday following reports the boy was in cardiac arrest.

    The child was taken to hospital but died on Thursday. A post-mortem examination is due to take place later.

    South Yorkshire Police said a man, aged 36, and a 32-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in police custody.

    Det Ch Insp James Axe said: "We are working hard to establish the exact circumstances leading up to this child's death."

    Incidents of violent crime and shop theft fell over December in Huddersfield, say West Yorkshire Police.

    Officers recorded a 36% drop in assault and robbery offences over Christmas, compared to figures from December 2018.

    There was also a 58% decrease on the 27 shop thefts in the town centre reported the previous year.

    Police say this follows months of heightened patrols and targeting known offenders.

    The force also deployed pop-up knife detectors and detection dogs.

    Insp Graham Dyson said: "This work formed the initial building blocks of our push to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, and we have now seen some excellent reductions on crime around the Christmas period with good reductions in both retail crime and violent crime."

    Two-thirds of North Yorkshire's residents who took part in a survey said they would like to see police officers armed with Tasers.

    Of 4000 people, 66% voted for the deployment of Tasers in a poll by North Yorkshire's police, fire and crime commissioner Julia Mulligan.

    Ms Mulligan said another survey put to police officers was needed before any mandatory roll-out is considered.

    The initial scheme would cost about £900,000, plus £200,00 a year for ongoing training and upgrades, the comissioner added.

    Joana Vasconcelos is known for her vibrant sculptures which explore cultural traditions and women's roles .

    With 25 pieces coming to the space in West Bretton, it will be the artist's largest exhibition held in the UK.

    The exhibition will open from 7 March.
