A community cafe in North Yorkshire says it's prevented more than two tonnes of food waste going to landfill since it opened 12 months ago.
The Wholemeal Community Cafe in Ripon opens every Thursday and uses food which would otherwise be thrown away.
The cafe works on a pay-as-you-feel basis.
Alison Scott (pictured centre), who runs it, says: "We now have several shops offering us their nearly out-of-date produce and we're part of Co-op Food Share, so get quite a lot from them.
"We've never had a Thursday where we've fed less than 60 people since we opened. In fact, we usually run out of food before we close and often have people queuing and waiting.
"We calculated this morning just how much food we've saved from landfill and it's over two tonnes That's a lot of food, isn't it?"

Plans to create a £14.4m environmentally friendly heat network in Bradford city centre have been boosted with council bosses agreeing to move ahead with the proposals.
Bradford Council’s Executive has voted to move to the next stage of plans for the District Heat Network.

Private businesses and buildings could also sign up to the scheme, paying the council for the green energy.
Those behind the plan say it would prevent 12,640 tonnes of carbon emissions being produced during the life of the project.
