Police said the woman had no idea where she was when she crashed near Thirsk, North Yorkshire, on Friday and other drivers could not see her car.
However, she managed to phone her father in Shrewsbury. He talked her through using the What3words app to get an exact location.
North Yorkshire police were able to get to her within four minutes of a call.
The app divides the world into 3m squares and gives each one a unique three-word address in order for people to be easily found in emergencies.

A passer-by had to chase after a double-decker bus and pull the emergency brake after it hit a telegraph pole and a number of parked cars, police say.
The bus came off Scarborough Road, in Filey, on Friday afternoon, leaving a trail of damaged vehicles in its wake, before it came to rest in the front garden of a house.
Three passengers were on the bus at the time but it is understood none of them were injured
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "It is believed a man, realising what was happening, bravely ran after the bus and pulled the emergency handbrake to bring it to a halt."
Anyone who witnessed the incident is being asked to contact police.

People in Sheffield are being told not to be "overly concerned" after two people diagnosed with coronavirus were taken to hospital in the city.
Two of the latest people in the UK to be diagnosed with the disease are being treated at the Royal Hallamshire hospital.
They were among four cruise ship passengers flown to Britain on Saturday who tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases in the UK to 13.
Greg Fell, Director of Public Health in Sheffield, says: "People shouldn't be overly concerned - the risk to the public, which was low, has been raised to moderate because of the increasing number of cases in the UK."
He says the two people are being treated in Sheffield because Sheffield Teaching Hospitals "has a very good infectious diseases unit."
Sheffield Teaching Hospitals have issued a statement, saying there is no risk to other patients or visitors, because their Infectious Diseases Unit is self contained.

These are the latest pictures from the scene of flooding at Cawood, near Selby, this morning.
The Environment Agency (EA) has issued a flood warning on the River Ouse in the area which is currently 7.7m above its normal level and rising., external
The EA says the river is expected to peak at 7.8m at about noon.
It's said ings in the area, fields designed to catch flood water, are full or filling.
Kelfield Ings is full, Cawood and Wistow Ings (pictured above) are currently filling.
The top of the flood bank on the Kelfield side of the river is no longer visible.
The EA says river levels in the area are expected to be high for the next few days with flooding of access roads and properties "likely".
Three men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a shooting in Sheffield.
The "targeted attack" happened at a property in Shirland Place in Darnall on Saturday night, South Yorkshire Police said.
Two men, 34 and 27, were taken to hospital although their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The three arrested men, aged 40, 32 and 25, are being questioned by detectives.
Det Ch Insp Jamie Henderson said: "This investigation is in its early stages, but so far we believe a group of men entered the property and fired shots at two men who were known to them."
Police were called to Shirland Place at about 22:10 and carried out a search of the area before arresting three men.
Additional patrols are being carried out and police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Northern Powergrid say 910 properties are affected in Easingwold and a further 400 in the Whitby area.
The cause of the outage is not known at the moment.
Northern Powergrid has issued a statement saying: "We've had to switch off the power for safety purposes whilst our engineers work on cables and equipment."
Power is expected to be restored by 11:00.
Firefighters have issued a warning to motorists not to drive into flood water after rescuing people from their car.
Crews from York rescued two people from their vehicle after they'd attempted to drive through flood water at Naburn, six miles south of York, yesterday afternoon.
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service say the driver ignored the "obvious" and "visible" flooding.
Tony Walker, Station Manager at Acomb and Huntington warned: "We will not recover vehicles, do not drive through flood water."
Meanwhile, crews for Selby and Pontefract rescued a man from his van earlier this morning, after he drove into flood water at Kellington in the Selby district of North Yorkshire.

It's a cold and a wet start to the day with snow for many of us.
Most of the settling snow will be on the higher ground, though it may fall at lower levels; however, it will turn to rain as it clears away to the east.
This afternoon it will brighten up, though we will still see some blustery showers in places.
Temperatures will get up to about 13C or 14C:
There are traffic delays this morning on the A58 near Wetherby after a car overturned.
It happened a short time ago near Scarcroft.
It's not known yet whether anyone was injured in the incident.

Four cruise ship passengers flown to Britain on Saturday have tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases in the UK to 13.
They were among 30 repatriated Britons and two Irish citizens beginning a 14-day quarantine at Arrowe Park Hospital in Wirral.
The four UK nationals caught the virus on the Diamond Princess liner in Japan, England's chief medical officer said.
They have now been transferred to specialist NHS infection centres.
Two patients are in the Royal Hallamshire in Sheffield, one is in the Royal in Liverpool and a fourth was transferred to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, NHS England said.
More than 20 flood warnings are in place across Yorkshire, external this morning as heavy rain and snow is falling on much of the county.
The Met Office has also issued a yellow weather warning for rain and snow for much of the region between 02:00 and 15:00.

Over the weekend, parts of Yorkshire were flooded for the third successive weekend, following Storms Ciara and Dennis earlier in the month.
However the EA says it is "quietly comfortable" about the risk of flooding
Frank Deplanter, from the Environment Agency, said flood defences were protecting about 2,000 properties in York.
He said the River Ouse would peak at a similar level seen during Storm Dennis last weekend with some flooding for the "usual suspects".
