The service, also known as "see and swab", is next to the NHS111 pod put in place to keep people attending hospital with symptoms of the virus isolated from other patients.

"The swabs are sent away to a lab, and people get their result later."

A total of 53 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus in the UK.

A new government publicity campaign seeks to drive home the message that regular hand-washing is the single most important action individuals can take in the fight against the virus.

    Cars in Leeds city centre

The CAZ was originally due to come into effect by January this yer, but has been delayed until July at the earliest.

The fees would be administered using a £6m camera network which would identify number plates of cars which don't meet green requirements so drivers could be charged.

Taxi and private hire drivers are currently able to apply for a grant of up to £1,500 to go towards buying a hybrid car and up to £3,000 to purchase a full electric vehicle.

Leeds City Council’s taxi and private hire licensing manager Andrew White said: "We are up to 300-and-something loans and grants successfully awarded."

Mr White added the council "does have a date in mind" for the final introduction of the Clean Air Zone, with an announcement expected in the coming weeks.

Ms Blake was elected as an MP in the general election last December, but remained as a councillor for Walkley so as not to trigger a byelection.

However, she stopped claiming her councillor’s allowance the day after the general election and has now decided to stand down.

Her resignation won’t prompt a byelection as it’s within six months of the local elections in May, so her seat will remain vacant until then.

There are two other Walkley councillors, Ben Curran and Neale Gibson, who constituents can still contact.

Ms Blake said: “I decided to stand down today because Sheffield Council has its budget meeting on Wednesday but I can’t attend because I have a Whip to be in Parliament.

"I was going to hold out until the local elections but I want to focus on Parliament.”

Any risk to people in Hull and the wider region remains low, Ms Weldon added.

"If people are worried, please use the NHS 111 line rather than phoning your GP or going to hospital because that really helps our efforts to contain the spread," she said.

Shareholders have backed a £405m bid from Anglo American for the cash-strapped company, which said it faced falling into administration without the deal.

Sirius said the outcome had secured jobs and future benefit for the local community and wider region.

The project, based near Whitby, will be the UK's first major deep mine in 40 years.

Sirius chairman Russell Scrimshaw said the move "secures a return for shareholders and provides greater certainty in terms of safeguarding the project, protecting the jobs of our employees and allowing the community, region and UK to continue to benefit from the project".

Shareholders who attended the meeting were told if they did not support the deal, the company would collapse.

They were being asked to vote in favour of Anglo's 5.5p per share offer, despite some paying as much as 25p a share when the company was growing.

Shareholders, a large proportion of whom are small individual investors rather than big institutions, stood to lose out heavily.

Some 85,000 small shareholders are thought to have invested in the project, alongside several large institutional investors.
