The latest mural has appeared on the side of the new Kings bar and music venue on Market Place in Hull's Old Town as part of a programme showing off art by renowned artists.

It was painted by Dan Kitchener, who's known as Dank - an internationally-known street artist who has painted all over the world.

He was asked to come to East Yorkshire by Bankside Gallery - a graffiti collective in Hull.

Since Bankside Gallery was formed in January 2018, more than 1,000 pieces of graffiti art have been painted legally across the city.

Gallery staff are now asking people to consider other sites where murals could pop up with landowner permission, with other well-known street artists planning to come to the city to paint in more prominent locations.

Bankside Gallery says its mission is to help regenerate Hull using street art as the tool – while also making the city more colourful.

It also wants to provide opportunities for artists to get their work seen and provide a free and accessible attraction for the public.

Colescliffe Road in Barrowcliffe was left littered with broken garden furniture, a fire-damaged sofa and rubbish bins after the trouble broke out on Saturday evening, police say.

Council workers had to attend the next day to clear up the mess left behind.

Officers are now reviewing CCTV and police body camera footage with a view to making arrests, according to North Yorkshire Police.

Supt Andrea Kell said: “We understand the incident caused alarm and distress to the local community.

"I want to reassure residents we have a comprehensive patrol strategy in place to address the very small minority of individuals who cause us problems."

  19. Wombwell factory Covid measures 'satisfy' safety watchdogpublished at 16:45 British Summer Time 20 July 2020

    Local Democracy Reporting Service

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is "satisfied" with special measures implemented to stop the spread of coronavirus at a South Yorkshire food factory, the firm's bosses say.

    Cranswick foods

Three members of staff at the Cranswick Food factory in Wombwell died in the spring with coronavirus following an outbreak at the site.

Eleven workers tested positive for Covid-19 and seven were taken to hospital.

According to the HSE, an outbreak was declared at the site on 3 July and, during discussions with Public Health England and Barnsley Council, it said it was “made aware of specific intelligence relating to one working area and a pattern of positive Covid-19 cases on one shift”.

The HSE said it had received a number of concerns about social distancing measures at the site, including two from the family members of workers who died after contracting the virus.

It added it was provided with a detailed log from Cranswick Foods, showing actions taken to follow government guidelines and that they had taken appropriate action in relation to social distancing measures.

An HSE spokesperson said its inquiries into Cranswick Foods were "ongoing".

A Cranswick spokesperson said: “Since the end of February, we have been implementing additional measures to protect both the physical and mental well-being of our people."

The firm said social distancing was implemented "where practical", with PPE also being used by employees.

The company added: "The HSE inspected the site on 8 July and were satisfied with the results of the inspection and assured us we had taken all possible measures to minimise the risks of Covid-19 at the site."

    Daniel Wainwright
    BBC England Data Unit

NHS England has reported six deaths of people with Covid-19 in hospitals in its latest daily figures.

The numbers are usually lower on Mondays than other weekdays because of weekend reporting lags.

However, along with yesterday's eight, this is only the second time since daily reports started being published in April that the England hospital death statistic has been a single digit.

One death was recorded at each of Northamptonshire Healthcare, Rotherham, Countess of Chester Hospital and East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trusts and two at Buckinghamshire Heathcare NHS Trust.
