Humberside Police were granted a court order to permanently shut the property after the occupant breached a previous court-imposed ban on having visitors.

PC Tim McGowan said: “We do a lot of patrolling with partners in the area and had identified this address to be problematic, with many local residents also raising their concerns. Working with the housing association, warning letters had been issued to the address but it had failed to rectify the issues we were seeing.

“Now that we have a full closure in place, the occupant has been evicted from the property, unable to return, and the housing association have secured the property to prevent any further criminality."

The RSPCA was called by police officers to Tinsley Meadows Park in Sheffield following the discovery on Saturday.

The charity said the body of a female German shepherd was stuffed inside a Royal Mail parcel sack.

RSPCA inspector Vanessa Reid said she suspected the dog had only recently died.

Ms Reid said the dog was not microchipped and had no identification tag on its collar.

"It's incredibly sad to find this beautiful, seemingly healthy dog dumped in such a way," she said.

"She's in a really good condition so it's unclear how she perished and whether it was in suspicious circumstances but I'd certainly like to speak to her owners."

  9. Huddersfield MP apologises for alleged anti-Semitic tweetpublished at 09:25 British Summer Time 3 August 2020

A campaign group has called on a Labour MP to lose the party whip over an alleged anti-Semitic tweet.

    Barry Sheerman

Barry Sheerman tweeted about a "run on silver shekels" in an apparent reference to a rumour about two high profile Jewish businessmen missing out on peerages.

The Huddersfield MP deleted the post and said he was "deeply sorry that my clumsy tweet has caused offence".

The Campaign Against Antisemitism said he should face disciplinary action.

A spokesperson for the group said: "His first reaction on hearing two prominent Jewish businessmen supposedly missed out on peerages is to think about 'silver shekels', alluding to both classic and modern anti-Semitic tropes about Jews corrupting politics with money."

After deleting the tweet Mr Sherman posted another tweet saying: "I apologise for my earlier tweet. I did not intend the meaning which has upset many, and I am very sorry for the upset and offense I have caused."

In June, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer dismissed MP Rebecca Long-Bailey from her role as shadow education secretary saying she had retweeted an article containing an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory.

Goals from George Thomson, Connor Hall and Jack Diamond saw Simon Weaver's side run out 3-1 winners in the National League promotion final to secure their second promotion in three seasons.

Town had never played at Wembley prior to their meeting with Notts County, but they looked unfazed by the occasion as they dominated the first half.

Weaver, who took over the club in 2009, told BBC Radio York: "It's a dream come true. It's an unbelievable experience."

Harrogate, who only turned professional for 2017-18 and won promotion to the National League that season, now face a very tight turnaround before the League Two season gets under way on Saturday, 12 September.

In accordance with EFL regulations they will need to rip up their artificial pitch and replace it with grass.

Weaver said the players will get two weeks off before coming back in for pre-season before their debut campaign in the EFL.
