In 2015, Cpl Paddy Flint, 43, a member of the RAF Police, was diagnosed with Non-Epileptic Attack Disorder, a condition which causes him to blackout.
A spokesperson for the RAF said: "Cpl Flint was previously a dog handler and while the diagnosis radically affected his career, he has successfully fought to stay in the RAF.
"He was also forced to surrender his driving licence in 2013 which has since affected his career path.
"However, earlier this year Paddy was awarded a grant for a recumbent trike by the RAF Benevolent Fund."
Cpl Flint hopes to raise funds for the RAF Benevolent Fund.
He said: "Through this challenge I hope I can show anyone can do this, because apart from my usual few miles I've done no training whatsoever.
"I’m also aware the RAF Benevolent Fund won't have had as many chances to get out and 'rattle the buckets' this year, so any amount I can raise will be vital in assisting service personnel and their families."
A man died this morning after the van he was driving hit a tree near Rotherham, police say.
Emergency services were called to a collision involving a white Fiat Scudo panel van on the A57, near the junction with Lindrick Dale at about 08:15, according to South Yorkshire Police.
However, it's thought the collision could have happened at about 06:30, police added.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, officers said.
Anyone who was in the area at the time, or who witnessed the collision, or has dash-cam footage of the van, is being urged to contact police.
More than 1,300 children have visited a drive-through Santa's grotto set up in a West Yorkshire pub car park.
Father Christmas has been handing out selection boxes from a veranda at the Gaping Goose in Garforth, Leeds.
The pub's socially distanced attraction has been serving a younger-than-usual clientele thanks to donations from the local community.
It opened on 9 December after publican Jo Heywood decided to do something to lift her "Covid blues".
Visitors have been asked to make a voluntary donation, with more than £1,600 raised for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance so far.
Mrs Heywood said: "It's given us all the Christmas spirit. You can't see the stars without darkness.
"Even though this year's been tough, there's always some positive to get you through."
The grotto will remain open until 22 December.
The keys to York's new 8,000-seat Community Stadium, to be shared by the city's football and rugby league teams, are being handed over to operators GLL today.
The stadium will be home to York City Football Cub and York City Knights, alongside community offices, a library, NHS services, a gym and sports hall.
The ground's opening has been hit by several delays and was due to open in July. The development was first proposed in 2009.
Former York City defender Daniel Parslow was playing for the team when planning for the stadium was granted.
He says: "A new stadium, all the facilities will be fantastic, so it will hopefully give the team a lift and be a fantastic platform for the club. I'm really excited and can't wait to visit."
The stadium is due to open to the public on Monday.
A man had to undergo surgery after being attacked while walking his dog in a West Yorkshire cemetery last weekend, say police.
The attack happened at about 19:30 on Sunday 13 December.
The 53-year-old man was struck from behind in Brighouse Cemetery on Lightcliffe Road, "causing him to suffer a facial injury which required surgery", according to police.
The suspects are believed to have had a black dog with them which was not on a lead, officers said.
It's believed a number of other people were in the cemetery at the time and officers say they're hopeful they'll be able to assist with their investigation.
Anyone who saw the assault, or who has information about the attackers, is being asked to contact West Yorkshire Police.
