The Navara was being driven from Bradford when it collided with the roundabout, according to West Yorkshire Police.
Mr Nicholson, a passenger in the Navara, died at the scene.

An "extremely rare" gold coin depicting Oliver Cromwell which until recently was part of a North Yorkshire coin collection is expected to fetch up to £150,000 at auction next month.
The 50 shilling coin is one of only 12 believed to exist, according to auctioneers Dix Noonan Webb.
Minted in 1656, it is part of a collection of coins previously owned by Scarborough-based collector Marvin Lessen.
The London-based auction house says the sale is the fourth and final part of Mr Lessen's collection to be sold.
Peter Preston-Morley, from Dix Noonan Webb said: "The three parts of the collection that have been sold at Dix Noonan Webb so far, have fetched just under £1m (including buyers premium), but we feel we have kept the best to last and this sale truly reflects Mr Lessen’s fascination with the Cromwell era, and particularly the coins of Thomas Simon.”
Other items set to go under the hammer on 21 January are a gold Naval Reward medal, estimated to fetch up to £40,000, and a silver shilling from 1651, which was once owned by the Duke of Devonshire.

Work is under way to remove the bodies of a pod of sperm whales washed up from the North Sea in East Yorkshire.
The 10 whales died after getting stranded on the beach between Tunstall and Withernsea on Christmas Eve.
Some of the animals were washed back into the sea but work has started to remove the remaining carcasses.
The council said people had been coming to look at the carcasses, with some climbing on the animals and they urged people to stay away.
A spokesperson said following scientific testing on several of the dead whales, the council was working with partners and a specialist contractor to first remove the whale nearest to Withernsea's South Promenade.
It said work would happen in the coming days and, for public safety, people should stay away.
The spokesperson added: "We are aware of reports of people getting close to the animals, touching them and even climbing on them.
"What happened is a tragedy and we ask people to be respectful while work is undertaken to move them off the beach or for nature to take its course."
