Read MoreRestaurants and takeaways in part of Leeds have been visited by Yorkshire Water in a bid to educate them about the correct disposal of fats, oils and greases.
The visits around the City Square area follow the discovery and subsequent destruction of a 1.5-tonne fatberg which blocked the sewer outside the Queens Hotel in November 2020.
Matthew Crawshaw, network protection team leader at Yorkshire Water, said: “The incorrect disposal of fats, oils and grease down drains and into the sewers can have a significant impact on our wastewater network.
"Once in the sewer fats can restrict the normal flow of wastewater and ultimately could cause a complete blockage of the network, resulting in sewage escapes and in the worst-case pollution to the local environment and watercourses."
He added: “We will be carrying out repeat visits in the coming months to businesses where appropriate grease management was not in place to ensure steps have been taken to prevent the products entering the sewer network.
"We may also consider a staged enforcement with businesses that fail to implement correct grease management processes.”

An apprentice cooper will be "trussed in" today in a ceremony at a North Yorkshire brewery which dates back to the 14th Century.
Euan Findlay, 25, from Bedale, will be placed into a barrel and then rolled around the Theakston brewery yard in Masham, before being sacked and then immediately re-employed as a fully-qualified cooper.
Mr Findlay began his apprenticeship five years ago, learning the ancient craft of making the wooden casks designed to transport beer.
The ceremony was originally scheduled for May last year, but was delayed due to the pandemic.
Mr Findlay told BBC Radio York: "I knew what I signed up for and I suppose this is something I've been looking forward to throughout my apprenticeship, but now it's finally here I'm not so sure I am."
It's the first time in more than 20 years the brewery has held the ceremony.
An attacker who lured a woman into an Leeds alley before sexually assaulting her is being hunted by police.
The 19-year-old was walking home after a night out in the city centre when the suspect approached and engaged her in conversation in the Hyde Park area.
He ushered her into an alley at Back Kendal Lane before attacking her, said West Yorkshire Police.
The incident occurred between 04:20 and 04:30 on Wednesday 21 July.
A police spokesman said they wanted to speak to the man pictured above.
He is described as being tanned, possibly Mediterranean, about 5ft 6in and of a slim build.
The man is said to have short black or dark hair and was aged in his mid to late twenties.
Police say he spoke with a foreign accent, possibly Spanish or similar.
Det Insp Richard Holmes said they needed help from the public to help catch the woman's attacker.
He added: “While the CCTV images are of fairly low quality, we hope that, together with the physical description, they may help to jog someone’s memory who either knows who he may be or who has information about his movements around the time of the incident.
“The victim has been left understandably traumatised by what he did, and we are continuing to support her as we progress the investigation.”
A woman says letters from prison made her feel there was "no escape" from her abusive ex.

Major improvement work to the Foss Barrier in York is nearing completion, the Environment Agency (EA) has said.
The barrier, which protects hundreds of properties, was overwhelmed during major flooding in 2015.
The EA said it expects contractors to hand over the site in January after the £38m work.
"It's fantastic to see a significant piece of investment in the resilience of York city centre," the EA's Chris Ashcroft said.
A new flood alleviation scheme for the city was also developed after 2015, with the government providing £45m in funding for the work.
Councillor Paula Widdowson, City of York Council's executive member for environment and climate change, said she was pleased to see the schemes were progressing well and praised the teamwork between council officials and the EA.
