The commercial director of Leeds Rhinos is among those who have paid tribute to Kevin Sinfield who ran 101 miles in 24 hours in aid of motor neurone disease research.
The rugby star (pictured above right), set off from Welford Road, where he's a coach for Leicester Tigers, at 08:40 yesterday morning.
He crossed the finish line at Headingley, home of rugby league club Leeds Rhinos, where he played for 18 years at 08:26 this morning.
His ex-Rhinos team-mate, Rob Burrow, (pictured top left) was diagnosed with MND in 2019 and Sinfield raised £2.7m last year by running seven marathons in seven days.
The 41-year-old set an initial target of £100,000 for the Extra Mile Challenge, but he's so far raised more than £900,000., external
Commercial director for Leeds Rhinos, Rob Oates, said: "Two years ago when Rob got the diagnosis it was heartbreaking and out of adversity Kevin, because of the friendship and the bond that group of players had, wanted to look after him.
"We always knew they were a tight group, but he's just a diamond of a guy and everything he does he's brilliant at."
Meanwhile, writing on social media, external, Leeds United described Sinfield as "a true inspiration."
