Sheffield Crown Court heard the repeated sexual abuse happened in Rotherham when Ahmed was a teenager.

He said: "There is no getting away from the fact that this paedophile is in possession of a peerage and this is absolutely and categorically unacceptable. He should be stripped of this immediately.

"I will be speaking to my colleagues in the Department of Justice to ensure that this individual is not allowed to continue to hold a peerage, which would be an insult to his victims."

Ahmed is due to be sentenced next month.

Leen Clive, who holds a British passport and lives in Hessle, is due to fly to the states with her husband and their six-month old daughter to represent Great Britain in the finals of the "Mrs World" competition.

Speaking to BBC Radio Humberside, Mrs Clive says: "My husband and my baby girl had their visa granted, but mine was refused - and the only difference is my place of birth.

Since arriving in the UK in 2013, the 29-year-old has learned to speak English and is currently training to be an NHS doctor.

Emma Hardy, Hull West and Hessle Labour MP, has said she is trying to intervene to rectify the situation.

In several games, young supporters have been seen to encroach onto the pitch and run towards players - often asking for their shirts.

It said in recent months this has been more important than ever due to the risk of spreading the coronavirus, with anybody entering the pitch, technical areas, tunnel and dressing rooms needing special permission from the club.

"We will have a zero-tolerance approach to those invading the pitch and those putting players at risk, with football banning orders issued to any supporters identified," a club spokesperson said in a statement.

"The recent trend with incidents have included young supporters being sent onto the pitch and this will not be tolerated whether it is before, during or after a game.

"In these cases the parents or guardians of the juniors in question will be given a one-year ban from matches."

Medical trials are under way in West Yorkshire to create a single vaccine to treat the childhood illness whooping cough.

    Vaccine trial explained

Bradford is one of 12 centres across the country taking part, with research also being carried out in Australia.

The team is also using the Born in Bradford project - a study which tracks the lives of people in the city - to help recruit participants.

The PRC is based at Bradford Royal Infirmary and is one of only five in the UK.
