We've just spoken to the police about the serious accident on the A1 in Rutland.
They say it involved a lorry and a car and it happened about 01:00.
The road has now REOPENED.

This is still causing a lot of problems in East Leicestershire and Rutland with delays on the A1 but also the A606 through Oakham and Melton Mowbray.

Fire engine takes couple to hospitalpublished at 08:42

To start with today I'm going to be telling you about how a couple in Rutland had to be taken to hospital in a fire engine after being involved in a collision off the A47.

The fire service offered to take them to A&E at Leicester Royal Infirmary after an ambulance failed to turn up.

Some big traffic problems in the east of the county and in Rutland this morning because of an accident.
The A1 is closed and there's queuing traffic northbound between the A606 junction in Stamford and the A151 junction in Colsterworth.
It's also very slow traffic on A606 Burton Road northbound in Burton Lazars and the A607 Norman Way in Melton Mowbray because of traffic diverting away from the A1.
