    Dr Lenton's patients say they will try to fight the closure. They've set up a Facebook page,, external a petition and are planning a public meeting next week.

    Katy Wheatley, who set it up, says: "We are asking for people who are not his direct patients to sign it because it will have a massive impact on the rest of the local community because we will be the third surgery to close."

    Leicester City were unable to bring in a striker, or any other new signings, ahead of last night's transfer deadline. 

    The Foxes chased Ahmed Musa, Loic Remy and Eder, amongst others, but couldn't come to an agreement with their clubs to bring them in.

    Three players did leave the King Power though, Ritchie De Laet (pictured), Yohan Benalouane, and Tom Lawrence, all went off on loan deals for the rest of the season.

    Earlier this week, Maples Surgery in Evington closed after its only doctor retired.

    There are no plans to open any new surgeries, so patients from both surgeries have been told to seek places at other established centres.

    Dr Jonathan Lenton from Queen's Road Medical Centre sent us a statement about the closure saying: "In the current healthcare environment, small practices are becoming unviable, the workload has reached an unsustainable level and access to funding is becoming more and more difficult."

    To start with today, a second GP surgery is to close in as many months in one part of Leicester.

    Dr Jonathan Lenton says practices like his at Queen's Road Medical Centre in Clarendon Park are becoming "unviable" and "unsustainable".

    Dr Lenton wrote to more than 2,000 patients last week, announcing the family business would shut for good at the end of March.
