  14. Your comments: Family praise Glenfield servicespublished at 09:57 British Summer Time 8 July 2016

We and our family feel absolutely mortified about the recent news, I feel sick to the stomach of the thought there will no longer be an amazing children's congenital heart hospital on our door step.

Our son George was born in March 2015 and six weeks later he was admitted to the LRI then to Glenfield. We spent seven months between the two hospitals intensive care units fighting to keep George alive.

George underwent two open heart surgeries and was fortunate to survive thanks to the amazing surgeons, cardiologists, doctors and nurses.

Glenfield became a second home for us that year. Me and my partner were so fortunate to be able to commute the 20 minute drive. The thought of what we would of had to do? Commuting further a field with the anxiety, worry and wiping tears from our faces I don't know.

"We nearly lost him two years ago and he will need a heart transplant eventually. This has come as a massive shock. Where do we go? Birmingham is such a long way to go - it's risking your child's life. Will they pay travel costs? At Glenfield you can stay over. It's daunting to think what will happen. It will have a massive impact on us."
