    East Midlands Airport
    Quote Message

"In the immediate term it's really important that we're making best use of our regional airports. East Midlands Airport is already the largest pure freight airport in the country, it's got fantastic connections but it's also got capacity. So as well as the government taking this decision on long term expansion we need to make sure in the here and now we're doing enough to make use of what we've already got."

Chris Hobson, East Midlands Chamber of Commerce:

Heathrow or Gatwick? The big news of today is the government deciding which to expand.

We're expecting to find out which airport will get the new runway at lunchtime.

Even after their decision today it's thought it could take ages to actually happen.

So, the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce is urging the government to make better use of spare capacity at East Midlands Airport in the meantime.
