  4. Police chief cycling around Derbyshire before retirementpublished at 09:36 British Summer Time 17 May 2017

    BBC Local Live

Derbyshire's Chief Constable Mick Creedon is marking his retirement after 37 years in the service by cycling around the county.

It's expected to take him three days and he will be joined by other experienced cyclists.

The chief constable is aiming to raise money for Safe and Sound which protects vulnerable people in Derby and Derbyshire.

    Quote Message

The cycling challenge will be difficult, especially with some of the hills in Derbyshire – but with the right people around me I think I will be able to do it. Bradley Wiggins and Dave Brailsford are not involved, we'll not be racing and my ageing and often aching limbs won't be moving too quickly.

  6. Scheme launched to help find people with dementiapublished at 09:20 British Summer Time 17 May 2017

    Khia Lewis-Todd
    BBC Local Live

A scheme has been launched today which will help Derbyshire police find people with dementia who go missing.

Relatives and carers of people with dementia can provide information about their loved ones -  places they like to go, where they used to work, weekly habits - in case they wander off without warning.

Tamsin Bell-Heather from Derbyshire police says the scheme, called the 'Herbert protocol' can give officers a head start during any search.

Quite often they will fall into a pattern of behaviour that they once had - so they may go out the door to go to the shop for a pint of milk, but half way down the street may think they're going to work. It's making sure we have those search locations so that we can start to send officers to try and find the people at those locations."
