The owner and chairman of Notts County has responded to Dale Vince with a lengthy statement of his own.

In it, Alan Hardy said he felt "compelled to set the record straight" and denied releasing statements to the press about Forest Green player Liam Noble.

He confirmed a number of bids had been made with a final offer of £100,000, payable immediately.

"Why Dale Vince would deny this when it is fact baffles me," he said.

"Dale Vince also claims they have been very clear from the outset that they did not want to sell Liam. While this may be the case, they have also been very clear from the outset that an offer of £100,000 guaranteed would be acceptable. It was only when this bid was lodged that they changed their minds," he added.

  14. 'Severe' hailstorm explainedpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    Amy Woodfield
    BBC Local Live

We've been in touch with the weather experts about these large hailstones that fell in Rutland last night.

Here's an explanation as to how it happens...

    Quote Message

Particularly in summer, the temperature at the surface of the Earth will not necessarily dictate whether we see hail or not, so it is quite possible that it is hot outside and then in a shower or thunderstorm you would see hail. Hailstones form in cumulonimbus clouds, as indeed we saw yesterday across the East Midlands. Within these clouds, air circulates up and down – as the air rises it cools and water droplets freeze. Big thunder clouds like yesterday can contain very strong updraughts and downdraughts and can hold hailstones (the frozen water droplets) for a long time, thus allowing them to become large. Eventually, gravity wins over and they fall to Earth – many will melt and turn back to rain (especially in summer when temperatures closer to the Earth’s surface are warmer), but if they are really big, then they are still frozen as they land, and that is what we know as hail."

Network Rail has announced plans for a £200m redevelopment of Derby railway station next summer...

    Derby StationImage source, Network Rail

Network Rail said the current "historic layout" of the railway is "inefficient" and that bottlenecks on the lines restrict the movements trains can make and the platforms they can access.

    Derby Station

There will be 79-days of engineering starting on 22 July 2018 - during this time the track and signalling will be removed meaning there will be "significant" disruption to the train timetable.

CrossCountry trains won't use the station and will have buses instead.

East Midlands Trains will prioritise trains to London, but other journeys might also need to be made by bus.

    Quote Message

It is many decades since the rail infrastructure at Derby saw this kind of investment and we have spent a huge amount of time working with our train operators, stakeholders and local businesses to make sure we keep disruption to a minimum while getting this vital work done as quickly as possible."

There will be no excuse for the buyer of this house not to use public transport...

    Bus stop

The two-storey home on Station Street in Langley Mill has been built right next to a bus shelter - leaving the entrance completely blocked.

It is up for sale and is described as "perfectly located" but these passers-by aren't so sure about the bus stop being so close to the door.

A spokeswoman for Derbyshire County Council said: "The bus stop and shelter has been there for many years but we're working with the developer to find a suitable nearby position."

The estate agents marketing the £140,000 house said there has already been "quite a bit of interest" and confirmed the shelter is being moved.
