Ye Olde Salutation Inn is celebrating its 777th birthday today - on the seventh day of the seventh month, 2017.
The pub in Hounds Gate, Nottingham was originally called the Archangel Gabriel Saluting the Virgin Mary but it was shortened to the Salutation Inn and is known as The Sal by regulars.
It often features in Nottingham ghost walks.
Landlord Jason Weston said: "Ye Olde Salutation Inn is celebrating its 777 years of long service to the public and there is not that many pubs, certainly not in Nottingham, and not very many in the UK itself, that can boost 777 years.
"It is quite an exciting time for us."
The pub is one of at least three in the city to claim to be the oldest.
